So you hope we will just forgive the flawed logic because you know it is flawed and said it anyway. Instead you expect us to just accept the even more flawed conclusion that Bush is somehow hypocritical in this.
I really do not know what to think about this case, I've stayed out of the argument. I know how tricky family disagreements can get, and at its heart that is what this argument is in my view. As for Terri herself, I don't know that her life stretch out is the best thing, but I also don't know if starvation isn't "cruel and unusual." There are nothing but suppositions that this does or does not cause her pain and suffering, and suppositions that it is or isn't what she wanted.
I see this as an area in which reasonable people can hold either opinion, and I think Bush has been very appropriate about his expression of his opinion, as opposed to some hate-mongering fanatics mostly on the right, but a few on the left too.
You should be ashamed of yourself for being those who are using this situation to make cheap jabs at others. However long she lives, however the legal situation plays out, no one who does anything other than express their own opinion with compassion about this topic gains anything but my contempt.
And no, killing is not always the same, the Lord makes that pretty clear in 1 Nephi. This is why I can see the reason and compassion of those who think it best to end her life and only wish, if that is the way it will play out, that it could be done in an easier way than starvation.
I will never feel ashamed for taking a "cheap jab" at George W. Bush because he has taken so many cheap jabs at others. I do feel saddened for Terri and her family on both sides of the issue. my hope is that people will look at this sad situation and learn that it is good to have documentation in place stating their wishes if a similar situation were to occur to them. as for gaining your contempt --I am crushed :(
