so, this could be a post about the burke thing...

Or I could just want to show off my new header because Ellen is almost criminally hot.  *twirls*

But yes, Burke the Runaway Groom really is a runaway groom.  Or, you know, a fired one.

On the one hand, it makes it a bit easier to stomach the complete reworking of the Bang relationship that happened towards the end of S3.  It doesn't make the writing ( Read more... )

Oooooh Ellen! She is so made of sex. Sex and win. Beauteous header, and really, at this point in time, better than the Mer/Der one -- looking at the ferry images just makes me think of how terribly the awesomeness of that arc was squandered, and it makes me twitchy. My own header makes me twitchy, because SO MANY HAPPY MEMORIES THAT ARE THE POLAR OPPOSITE OF THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS, but I am too lazy to change it again :)

Vote for Hahn, y'all! I don't care if she's on another show -- bring her back to Grey's, ABC. She's not even billed as a regular character on new said show! Plus she'll be completely outshined by Peter Krause and Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh and Billy Baldwin! Don't be a minor character in a terribly-titled pilot, Erica! Come back to Seattle Grace.

Isn't she just. Gah, I adore her. If they let Mer look like a little more like Ellen on the show, ha. Derek never would've even glanced at the barslut.

But yeah, my Mer/Der ferryboat one was making me so sad, and I tried to make a new Mer/Der one. And I just. couldn't. do. it. They're all broken and destroyed and IT BREAKS MY HEART. But yes, even when they kill off all of Mer's relatives, Ellen is still made of sex. (Hee, your header makes me get all nostalgic and teary-eyed. But really, at least we're not Bang shippers.)

And yes, who cares about this stupid other show that's trying to steal our Dr. Hahn. She'd do much better cutting open hearts and looking fabulous on a show that's a given than she would gambling everything on a (less fabulous) pilot.

Well I agree with everything you said, even your list of characters you don't like...Mine are the same and and for the smae reason...(Grrr To this day Sydney's perkiness and heal with love thing still makes me want to dump her into Elliot bay...).

Making a mistake once can happen, although for me the choking PD was as bas as insulting TRK (words or physival violence are both horrible). Everyone one can make mistakes but after the GG...I had so much trouble separating the actor and his character and then the writers turning him inyo a controlling guy trying to turn Cristina into a Stephord wife (well maybe not a stephord wife but you know...).

I would love to see Dr Hahn come back because I really liked her when she was on but I read somewhere that the actress signed as a regular on the new ABC's show "Dirty sexy money" so I'm not sure if that would make it possible.

Hee, I'd be quite happy to dump Sydney in Ellit Bay myself.

And yeah, the choking PD thing. I've always chalked that part up to the tabloids maybe exagerating a bit, but, if it's true, I think that adds another reason to get rid of him. I know I certainly couldn't choke a coworker and expect to keep a job, and, just because it's Hollywood, that doesn't mean that he shouldn't also have to refrain from physical violence.

And yep, the whole GG fiasco and everything that followed, it really broke down the fourth wall in a way. I kept having trouble seperating the drama surrounding the actors from the drama surrounding the characters. And, I think that's bad for a show.

Gah, Dr. Hahn needs to leave her new show and come to Grey's. *poutyface!*

Yep...Agree on everything. But I remember reading that it's not the first time incidents on set have been related to him in his career. Hope this time will have taught him a lesson and helped him grow up.

Honestly...Had this not been a TV show and had he not been an actor, in any firms he would have been fired a loooooong time ago.

Oh I agree with you there. If my father had behaved at his job the way IW did? He definitely would've been fired a long time ago. Say, instead of the GG, it was some company banquet? My god, I can't even imagine someone being allowed to do what IW did, and then keep their job. It's ludicrous.

I think there's a definite double standard in the behavior expected of regular people in regular jobs, and those who are connected to a character on a TV show. I think they can kinda skate by with innapropriate behavior because they're connected to that fictional character. You can't just get a new Dr. Burke the way you can hire a new lawyer or a new cashier or teacher or whatever. So, behavior gets tolerated more...

Def loving the new heading because EP is the best there ever will be. I am all for Dr. Hahn - the lady is hysterical and could totally hold her own in that hospital.

In the mean time, dying for another update on your story - it's brilliant!

Hee. Yes, EP is pretty much fabulous. She keeps me tuning into Grey's even when I want to give up. And, I couldn't handle a happy Mer/Der banner right now, so...Ellen looking gorgeous instead! (Glad you like it! :)

And there should be another update probably some time this weekend. It's almost completely written, but there's just one more scene I want to add on.

Yeah, I think that there will be a bit of an unbalanced feel to the show if they aren't careful. We're missing both Burke and Addison now, and I'm hoping the dynamic won't be completely screwed up as a result. I will miss (early) Burke myself. He had some funny, funny moments. Mer and Cris walking in on him in the bathroom was definitely one of them, plus his banter with the other attendings...I'll definitely miss that.

And score! Another vote for Dr. Hahn! :D

(And thank you. Glad you like my header! :)

And maybe they could've created an out that didn't sort of smush Burke and Cristina into these different people by the end, but...there was a goal outside just the purpose of compelling storytelling.
Wait, I'm remembering these two other doctors in a relationship on some other medical show...where the actor was leaving and the actress wasn't...if only I could remember how they worked that one out...oh! Right! Abby and Luka got married and even though Luka's far away from her at the moment, there's a happy ending in the background. Granted, those two have a bit more history, a longer and more mature relationship, and a baby going for them, but still.

At first, I didn't think his mistake was such a big deal, but the Golden Globes...that was just mind-numbingly stupid of him.I suppose the fact that I never saw the GG incident in question helps. Out of sight, out of mind; hearing about it secondhand fails to make the same impression. And I can't really care about his supposed behind-the-scenes difficulty in playing nice, because ( ... )

Hmm, I've never seen ER, but I'll take your word on it. I'm sure that there are compelling ways to write a character off the show, and I think everyone would've appreciated a more thoughtful way for getting rid of Burke. They definitely turned his character around completely in a very short span of time, and I do agree that that's incredibly frustrating.

Yeah, watching the GG fiasco definitely influenced me I think. If I hadn't seen it, I probably would've been nowhere near as pissed off. But, the way it went down, it just had me shuddering in my seat.

As for the whole on screen versus behind-the-scenes debate... I don't know. I think that's a tough one. It's entertainment, so obviously TPTB have an audience to keep happy. The audience cares first and foremost about the characters, and what happens off camera really isn't as big a deal to them at the end of the day. We're not there for it. How can we care ( ... )
