Or I could just want to show off my new header because Ellen is almost criminally hot. *twirls*
But yes, Burke the Runaway Groom really is a runaway groom.
Or, you know, a fired one. On the one hand, it makes it a bit easier to stomach the complete reworking of the Bang relationship that happened towards the end of S3. It doesn't make the writing

Wait, I'm remembering these two other doctors in a relationship on some other medical show...where the actor was leaving and the actress wasn't...if only I could remember how they worked that one out...oh! Right! Abby and Luka got married and even though Luka's far away from her at the moment, there's a happy ending in the background. Granted, those two have a bit more history, a longer and more mature relationship, and a baby going for them, but still.
At first, I didn't think his mistake was such a big deal, but the Golden Globes...that was just mind-numbingly stupid of him.
I suppose the fact that I never saw the GG incident in question helps. Out of sight, out of mind; hearing about it secondhand fails to make the same impression. And I can't really care about his supposed behind-the-scenes difficulty in playing nice, because that didn't translate to the screen, and really? The screen is all I care about.
Vote Dr. Hahn for Burke V.2.0!
NOOOO!! Oh my GOD I cannot stand that woman; her character here is virtually indistinguishable from the one on Crossing Jordan, and it drives me up the wall every time she starts being smug and bossy.

Yeah, watching the GG fiasco definitely influenced me I think. If I hadn't seen it, I probably would've been nowhere near as pissed off. But, the way it went down, it just had me shuddering in my seat.
As for the whole on screen versus behind-the-scenes debate... I don't know. I think that's a tough one. It's entertainment, so obviously TPTB have an audience to keep happy. The audience cares first and foremost about the characters, and what happens off camera really isn't as big a deal to them at the end of the day. We're not there for it. How can we care?
But, there are the other actors to consider too. And if IW's behavior was consistently creating a hostile working environment for the other actors? Then I think TPTB really have to consider both sides of the equation. It would suck to lose the character, but, is it fair to their other employees to continually force them to work with a man who is consistently creating a very unpleasant working environment? If the other actors complain and feel uncomfortable working with him, I think they should take those complaints seriously. I know I'd want my boss to take my complaint about a coworker seriously, and I think the rest of the Grey's cast should have that same right even though their job IS awesome and fabulous.
So yeah...if they fired him just for his one slip of the tongue with TRK? That might be a little much to throw a character away for. But, if that one incident was just the only one the general public heard about, and there were other such examples of IW creating an unpleasant working environment for the rest of the cast, then...maybe it's worth the cost of losing the character to do right by all the other cast members who are showing up and trying to interact positively with each other.
But yeah...I don't think we can really know without being there. As for Dr. Hahn though, I think you'll get your wish. I've heard she's in another pilot this fall, so she might be unavaliable altogether for Grey's.
