I have this plan. A plan I'm only just going to succeed in day one of given it's nearly 11pm /o\ I was thinking about posting a poem every day in December (well, for Advent and then we'll see) and then I remembered my brain is mush at the moment so I'm going to be easier on myself. Thank you so very much for the link to the art project. Fledge and I have got very involved with a local branch of an umbrella charity for parents of children with special needs so this kind of uplifting work is something very dear to our hearts and we will be passing it on to everybody!

Your reading this month is very much in line with my tastes. I keep getting the Marie Brennan series for Fledge and of course read them myself. I have always liked Sheri Tepper although I can see that she might now come across as a little dated. If you like the Scott and Griswold series you might like KJ Charles' series A Charm of Magpies. You would also probably like Scott's Points series (The Novels of Astreiant) which she wrote with her now sadly dead partner Lisa Barnett.

It's such a lovely idea and I really enjoy the fact that you an see the children's personalities shining through in some of them as well as how accurate to the paintings they've been!

I guess reading older SF you always have to be a bit aware of how changing conventions & social politics etc. make stories seem dated. The Gate To Women's Country was good enough that I only paused occasionally rather than got thrown out of the story (I'm now reading The Mote in God's Eye and WOW is it of its time in places- 1974)

Thank you for the recs, I'll add them to my to read list :D
