Non Fiction: I am reading a biography of Dodie Smith, which is really interesting.
Fiction: I've just reread The School at the Chalet and am planning a full read through over the next couple of years or so. In addition, I am trying to read more and watch less television, so am going to start seriously tackling my To Be Read bookcase.
Fanfic: I am rereading Castles in the Air (CSI), a long story about Sara and Brenda (the character played by Dakota Fanning in Blood Drops). I am also reading Shards to a Whole (NCIS) an ongoing epic at over 130 chapters so far. It is updated every day or so, which removes the frustration of getting a long way through a tale to find it just stops.
My to read pile is in danger of toppling over and crushing me in the night which is why buying a new book at lunch was a really spectacularly bad idea.
I've mostly given up on reading fic in serial form even when it's updated regularly after being burnt too many times but I always bookmark and go back when it's finished.
Fiction - I'm reading Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson, which is about a computer hacker in an unidentified Middle East country who is given a book that turns out to have been written by the djinn. Very good so far, I'm about halfway through and have no idea how it's going to work out.
Next up is going to be Creole Belle by James Lee Burke, who is my absolute favourite crime writer and just keeps turning out beautiful but sometimes quite harrowing novels (this one is number 19 in this particular series).
Non-fiction - I don't read as much non-fiction, but the last I read was From the Holy Mountain by William Dalrymple, where he goes from Turkey and then across land to Egypt in the footsteps of two 6th century monks who wrote about their travels during the Byzantine empire.
I think I read about a third of The Making of the British Landscape and found it too hard going to finish. I like my non-fiction to be a little bit easier on the brain than that
( ... )
Alif the Unseen sounds fascinating, I'll have to keep an eye out for it!
I've read that William Dalrymple and a few others by him. I love his style plus he writes about such interesting places and things! It's very different to the Landscape book certainly- that's definitely part of continuing to challenge myself.
Fiction: I just went to the library to see if they had the 5th Elly Griffiths book, which they didn't :-( So I've come home with "A Tiny Bit Marvellous" by Dawn French. TBH I chose it because it was a nice looking book - slightly old fashioned looking with printed hardback cover instead of shiny jacket. And because it's Dawn French. Hopefully I'll like it.
Non fiction: "You are awful but I like you", an account of one man's travels around the less popular parts of England, in an Austin Maestro.
Fanfic: on SDL - Saving Grace. I just worked out something important, I think... Want the next chapter now.
I have just started a Harry Potter re-read as my bedtime book, after catching the end of Order of the Phoenix on tv on Saturday. I actually already had a book on the go (Doughnut by Tom Holt), but my HP desire was too strong to resist. :) I've also started Code Name Verity on my kindle.
No non-fiction at the moment, fanfic-wise I've been fully immersed in Teen Wolf and have a few long fics open in tabs, but I'm not actually reading anything at the moment.
A fact which is most damaging to his sense of self! He doesn't know who he is (without Frasier)
Right? I've been so nostalgic lately! This one was following on from my epic nostalgia!night with Sam, I've got a webpage called "McShep AU masterlist" open too lolol
Can you remember the name of the... I think it was McShep but definitely Atlantis fic where the translator stopped working? I was desperately trying to think of it after all the SGA talk but apparently I never saved/bookmarked it!
