Along with most of fandom I am somewhere between heartbroken and incredibly angry about what Avos have done to delicious.com...

For starters I actually can't log out at the moment!

I could at first and I did log out of my personal account & into the gruppetto account to check it & back it up and now I can't log out of that one to get back into my own ( Read more... )

Damnit. I was just about to sign up to delicious since - for some very stupid reason - chrome doesn't have a google bookmarks add-on (really, Google?). Thanks for the heads up! Will look elsewhere, I guess :S Thanks for the suggestions - I'll look at them and let you know what I think.

I'm hearing better things about Pinboard than Diigo so far but you do HAVE to pay I think :-/

I'm giving Diigo a shot. My bookmarks are all over the place because I used to use Google bookmarks, but you can't use it with Chrome (which is utterly ridiculous). All I need is a bookmarking manager that I can use on multiple computers and they all do way too much and confuse me :S

It's pretty much awful in fannish terms. Of particularly joy is the way any tags with / in are broken,

I went and had a look and just ugh. Now you have to know what you're looking for in order to find it which is.... not helpful. Yeah that's annoying. I wish they hadn't felt the need to make 'improvements'

Quite. They've turned it into a different site and all I can think is how glad we were when they took it over rather than yahoo!

:-/

We'll have to decide what to do with the gruppetto account at some point- whether to just ditch it or what but I'll experiment with my personal account first.

Why is everything so giant? And how do I save a new link without adding a button to my toolbar?

That is definitely a shame about Delicious :-(

Hope you're able to find another site that will serve...

I made sure I'd 'registered' and couldn't believe they would tinker with the tag bundles which are really the reason I ever stayed with delicious in the first place. Now all my bundles are empty, I have to trawl through loads of stuff to find anything and I will definitely leave delicious. But I have no idea where to go!! I suppose it's forcing me to cull some old stuff and decide just what I want to save, but it will take ages and ages and ages... Like you, I'm really angry and very upset. Why on earth have they done it? It sounds as if their new 'stacks' will work like bundles but you'd have to start again, naming everything and moving it to the right stacks. I might just as well transfer everything I want to the ordinary Firefox system, especially as I don't use sharing much. The old delicious was so good. *cries*

It's so frustrating! They're changing the site completely and however much they say they're listening I doubt it will go back to being as useful for fandom as it was before.

As far as I can tell stacks aren't quite like bundles- I'm afraid I've lost the link atm (because I couldn't delicious it!) but someone tried using them and apparently when looking at a stack you can't see tags? Which makes it pretty unhelpful but you might want to have a go yourself.

If you don't use delicious to share then either googlebookmarks or the AO3 bookmarking system would be good (though the latter is really only good for fic). Diigo looked good but seems to be forcing all sex/porn tags to be private so again it only works if you're not sharing PLUS it's marked a bunch of fannish people who imported a lot as spam!

I'm going with pinboard for the moment- it's currently $9.42 to join- but I'm hoping AO3 manage to find a way to make there's more useful as a sharing tool eventually so I can put fannish things there :-|

I'll probably post how I get on
