So. Recent signalling-to-someone-in-a-departing-helicopter shennanigans in Hawaii Five-O reminded me quite a lot of the last episode of M*A*S*H which is one of my all time favourite episodes of any show ever.

And then I though- how many shows do I even have a favourite episode from? And it's REALLY hard to pick!

Like in West Wing if asked I'd ( Read more... )

tv, buffy, doctor who, skins, hawaii five-o, csi, csi ny, west wing

I am with you on Blink, Empty Child and just not knowing in general

I think I managed to get down to about 20 favourite episodes of Highlander...

Well exactly! With some shows it's entirely impossible... if I thought too ahrd about West Wing the list would just get longer and longer and longer...

I think I would struggle with a lot of shows because so much of it goes in and out - I already can barely remember what happened in last night's CSI for example. There are some episodes that stand out more than others like, for example, the episode of CSI NY when Aiden is murdered in the car or the CSI episodes with the blue paint. And yet with some shows like X-Files, it's really easy (Squeeze/Tombs) or something like Blackadder where I've seen all the episodes multiple times and there's a much smaller number to choose from.

It's also difficult to say what a favourite 'should be'...is it the ones that I can watch over and over again or that I can't bring myself to watch again because they were so emotionally draining.

Which is a long way of saying, I don't know!

It is hard! Because favourite =/= best (or at least it doesn't have to) it could mean funniest or saddest or one you watch over and over or one that has that perfect scene in it.

But then there are episodes I love more than other episodes it's just I've never been good at picking my favourite anything

For me, Once More With Feeling is easily my favourite Buffy episode and is the one I could pick straight away. The same for Two Cathedrals from West Wing. And yeah, that Skins ep would be my favourite too, no question, but other shows are much more difficult - I can't even pick my favourite episode from each series of Doctor Who, never mind overall! (mind you, at the moment I'm struggling to remember my favourite programmes in general, and I always did suck at remembering episode titles, so that doesn't help!)

I had to go look up the title of the end of series 6 Buffy episode, and the Skins one which was stupid because of course it was Everyone *rolls eyes at self*

I think The Crackpots still edges Two Cathedrals for me but it's close.

Skins generally the Maxxie and Anwar episodes. I did love that they took him along at the end.

Buffy, yeah I immediately say Hush too. But I tend to like Spike eps Oooh what was the one with him talking to Buffy's mum and there were marshmallows and cocoa?

Oh that was lovely... Spike rocks, and he and Joyce made a wonderful combo.

I do love the Maxxie & Anwar episodes. Basically with Skins what I really want to say is "all of teh first two series" or even more certainly "everything from Effy in series 1 to Everyone in series 2"

Lovers Walk! They're talking about his break up with Dru I think? Oh Dru <3

West Wing - probably Two Cathedrals for the last five minutes if nothing else, but The Crackpots And These Women comes very high on the list, as does Shibboleth. The Stackhouse Filibuster is wonderful for the feeling of solidarity, as is A Good Day from one of the later seasons ( ... )

Oh, see, The Stackhouse Filibuster is completely wonderful too! With West Wing there really are a lot I love, and a lot where I'll love one scene but maybe not the whole episode.

The Labrats episodes are very high up when it comes to CSI, Grave Danger is very good of course but so traumatic it's hard to be a "favourite" I think. But something with a lot of Greg (preferably with Nick :P) and some Hodges.

That IS a good MASH episode but the very last episode just breaks me in all the right ways.

I adn't even thought about ER< it's hard to think back... it might be Nobody Doesn't Like Amanda Lee and I always rather loved And Baby Makes Two for George Clooney being heroic reasons *g* and you're right about Be Still My HEart/All In The Family
