I had a thought on why they had Bobby come back as a ghost just to salt and burn him a few episodes later, it's so he can end up in Pugatory(I'm assuming that's where all vengeful spirits go) and meet up with Dean and Cas.
Yes, I've heard this idea too. It makes sense - I mean, otherwise, what was the point of Bobby being a ghost? Besides some emotional tension and angst, which I appreciated, sure. But I guess we'll see!
I had a similar thought about ghost!Bobby and got a reply on Twitter that made a lot of sense: that maybe his final line about letting go when it's their time since that's something the Winchesters have always struggled with was the point.
But I also have a suspicion we'll see him (and other familiar faces) in Purgatory.
That makes sense...but...what would Sam and Dean be letting go of specifically? I mean I know that they've always had this issue, whether it's with revenge, or just holding onto things for so long. But what specifically do they need to let go of right now?
I think revenge at this very moment ("do it because it's the job"), which was more meant for Dean, and life in general, since both brothers have been bucking the natural order for years with resurrections and all.
I was reminded of the season 3 finale cliffhanger too - Dean in peril, where no amount of yelling 'Sammy!' is going to help. I wonder what Castiel's status in purgatory is though..he moves pretty freely through the different dimensions, but I suppose his power is diminished. Is he the last angel left alive? Will we see what God thinks in season 8? I can't wait til October..:(
I would LOVE to have God weigh in on things - after so many years, his absence seems glaringly obvious. But who knows if that will happen. I can't wait for next season, too!
I suspect- based on rumors that I have read being alluded to- that there was a demand for a rewrite of the finale that orinigally Bobbyghost was supposed to figure into Dick's death somehow.
Anyhow, I like that we saw what happens when someone says "no" for vengeance reasons.
I'm hoping no Bobby in Purgatory; enough is enough.
Loved that Castiel thinks complaining to Dean about being cursed will get him sympathy. Yeah, Dean's on death number what, now? 107?
I wonder if Dean is the first person to hit the trifecta: Hell, Heaven and Purgatory.
This is a great opportunity for them to bring back a few monsters: Alastair and eve for example. heck, they could bring back Azazel if they wanted.
So for friendlies, assuming he can find them, there would be...Eleanor Visyak? Maybe Lenore.
Love that Crowley played everyone. I'm guessing that he sees Dean as the bigger threat since he didn't seem to care too much about Sam's still being on earth. But why does Crowley want poor Kevin?

Crowley is VERY powerful right now and that worries me. And yes, we might see some familiar faces in Purgatory, which is definitely intriguing.
Getting rid of the Winchesters has been part of Crowley's end game for quite a while; I think he's been very careful around them, especially Dean because in someways they are an unknown quality. I mean hell, even Death seems to step cautiously around Dean [he brings the man fast food, for heaven's sake]. And Crowley knows if Dean really focussed on killing him, he'd be in Purgatory. So Dean's gone, Cas is gone and Sam is looking lost. Which makes Crowley think Sam's under control.
True - agreed on Crowley. He's even said that he's the only one who doesn't underestimate the Winchesters, based on their past track record with powerful entities.
