If you keep walking your child to the bus, they will learn that it is entirely natural for parents to care about their children to keep doing this as long as they want it to happen.
I was deeply pleased to note that our children never asked us to step away from them; they are college students, and still enjoy walking across the street with us. We both know that they do not need for us to do it, so it is obvious that we walk together because we enjoy being with one another, and that is reason enough.
I guess what I am saying is that you should not feel the least bit hesitant to be the doting and adoring mom that you are for your kids. Sooner than you even realize (and you seem to Realize this a lot), they will be stepping away on a flight for college or a mission and you (and they!) will be glad to know that you walked across as many streets as you could with them to get them to this point in their lives.
