Title: She did not agree.
Fandom: Lord of the Rings (movies).
Rating: (G)
Time Period: the Return of the King.
Summary: She defied the whispers in her dreams.
Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the
F. A. Q.).
For a small while, I wondered if Arwen’s faith in her beloved might be tested or broken. Sauron seemed the suitable choice to do the testing.
And then the story sat in the back of my mind until today.
The Elven in the story, I naw nîn û ben naw gîn, is Sindarin and means, simply, I don’t agree. It’s probably the wrong dialect but it felt right for this story.

These were her father’s arguments whispered in a fell voice that struggled to assume the fair shape it once knew. She knew to whom the voice belonged; it had haunted her dreams with the whisperings she knew were to test her resolve. In her sleep, her lips curved briefly.
I naw nîn û ben naw gîn, she whispered. I naw nîn û ben naw gîn! Echoes of the words drowned the poisonous whispers as they grew in strength. I naw nîn û ben naw gîn!
A frustrated roar accompanied the hot, fetid wind that suddenly arose. She startled awake, a whisper upon her lips.
“I naw nîn û ben naw gîn.”
