I was thinking about this possible conversation, not without the odd snicker!, recently and finally thought to write it down!

“You’ve got to admit, it was funny,” Merlin laughed as he tore his bread in two, dipping one half in his stew. “Uther, the mighty King, married to a ...” Guffaws of laughter broke his speech and he dropped his bread into his stew.
“Merlin! Do be careful!” Gaius muttered as he grabbed a cloth to wipe up some of the stew that fell on the table. “It isn’t that funny.”
“That’s how Uther would’ve been remembered! Gaining immortality in legend and song as the King who married a Troll!”
Despite himself, Gaius smiled; Uther would have had his dearest wish, to be remembered.
Despite himself, Gaius laughed and then clipped Merlin lightly behind the ear. “Hurry up and eat! I’ve some books that need sorting ...”
