“Glistening?”
“Do I glisten?”
“Does the packaging say when you should glisten?”
“No.”
“Then glistening will not occur.”
“What!? But it says I should glisten!”
“You said it doesn't say when you should glisten and, in my experience, if it doesn't say when it should happen, then it won't happen. Why the glistening, anyway?”
“I'm trying to look pretty.”
“But you already are pretty.”
“That's different to looking pretty.”
A huffed sigh. “Fine. You look pretty.”
“You're just saying that.”
“Am not.”
“Are too. Am I glistening?”
“Didn't we just cover this?”
“Yes but you didn't answer the question I just asked which used 'am' instead of 'do' which, might I add, was in the original question put to you.”
“I need a drink.”
“Get me one too please.”
“Do you want to … why can't you say shine?”
“Excuse me?”
“Why can't you say shine? Why do you have to say glisten?”
“Where's my drink?”
“And another thing,” as a bottle of water is handed over, “why do you suddenly want to glisten and look pretty?”
“I gotta go.”
“Be home by ...” The front door slams. “... ten.” She looks around and grabs the cream, holding it before her. “You and I have time to fill. Start talkin'.”
