He tosses, turns. Thankfully, Henry is in Emma’s bed. To be closer to her, he’d explained to his grandfather; Charming hadn’t the heart to deny the boy after what had happened. He lay awake in the dark, very aware he was alone.

If he breathed slowly, he could catch the perfume she’d worn. If he closed his eyes, he could feel her hair against his skin.

Slowly, he closes his eyes. He breathes slowly. He could feel her weight against him. If he turned, he could close his arms about her.

“Snow,” he brokenly murmurs and places his hands over his eyes.
