"She’s learned about love and trust and friendship and love from her parents. They weren’t traditional lessons, learned at a mother’s knee and father’s hand, but learned through knowing her parents, seeing them love each other even when they (Amy) didn’t know."

This is so very true. What a lovely fic!

What a lovely fic!
Thank you!

This is so very true.
It is, isn't it? She never had those lessons traditionally but she did learn them, all the same.

Oh. This is beautiful. Just... gah, all the feelings.

I love that second-last section especially - they did get to raise her a little bit after all.

Wonderful. Thank you for this. ♥

They did and I'm very glad. It mightn't have been 'traditional' but they did get to raise her.

Wonderful. Thank you for this. ♥

That was lovely!
Thank you! I'm glad it was.

It makes me ache even more for River.
I'm happy to know I'm not alone in that; watching, and listening, to that end of the episode, you can hear what isn't said and what she doesn't get to say. I was aching for her at the end.

Loved it!
I'm so glad to hear that!

Yeah; glad I'm not the only one who is going to quite frankly ignore the Doctor's grief and focus on River's. To be blunt; Amy is just the latest companion to the Doctor. A special one; perhaps, but the evidence suggests no more so than Jamie, Sarah, Ace or Rose. But to River it's her parents - they may not have raised her traditionally; but they've been in her life for such a long time.

I'm not; I simply chose to write about River's grief.

to River it's her parents - they may not have raised her traditionally; but they've been in her life for such a long time.
They have and possibly still will be, somehow.
