First day of the rest of my life

So...I survived my first day of first grade teaching! I wouldn't say that I feel like it was a total success because I didn't get everythign done that I had hoped to, but I also think that I had ridiculous high hopes. I tend to forget that these kids are truly still babies that need explicit and literal instruction. I failed to remember that

I think that you have a very fun and exciting year ahead of you. And I have complete faith that you will do a terrific job and be the best teacher that you could be. There's nothing more rewarding than touching the lives of others, and you will certainly do that every day of the school year.
