[Telepathic conversation to Jenova and Sephiroth]

Feb 21, 2009 12:38

[Drowning again, the haze cool between his fingers, sliding without form over the scars on his skin and the crevasses of his mind. Within the tank, Hojo's head lolls, consciousness surrendered to the green mist before his eyes; an entire population of voices bypasses his ears and sings straight to the auditory centre of his brain. He follows. Green ( Read more... )

The fight was horribly boring to watch. She would have more enjoyed the peeling back of skin and forcing Cloud down onto knees right away. Begging for mercy would have been preferable as well, but this was not her battle now. She was to stay out, so she simply watched from afar gutting a small forest animal that she had caught. It was much more enjoyable ( ... )

[Her voice seems to be coming from all directions at once - though what is direction, in a world without dimensions or boundaries? A pulse of pain races through his entire body, as if he is being suddenly, viciously compressed. Without vocal cords to wince with, his mental image winces nonetheless.]

I stand in the shadows no more, and never will again. He might have given you your name, but it is I who endowed you with purpose.

I want your due payment, JENOVA.

Having floated in that miserable tube for so many years, Jenova was keenly aware of the greasy slyness of this old man. She had nothing better to do after all than lie in the sedation with the tubes running her body as if they served some purpose beyond simply holding her prisoner. No better than those miserable Cetra who had trapped her in this single form for two thousand years.

So feisty for an aging mortal. You always gave yourself more credit than was due, she replied without heat. Perhaps she knew him better than anyone else, even Sephiroth. She would hate to be presumptuous on the matter though. It was simply you who recognized that we were something more than those miserable insignificant dirt-pushers.

She went silent at his demand, considering the options available that didn't simply involve abandoning such a pointless conversation. She was aware of the meaning of 'payment', but such influences of human society were not applied to her unless Sephiroth made such a demand. Still... And what makes you think that we would give ( ... )

[A voice that rises and falls like the tide - her will is beautiful in a most masterful way. How many years had he dreamed of communication between them, even as her headless body, wrapped in wires and conspiracies, floated in the endless supply of mako within the confinement he had woven for her, and down the endless labyrinths of his own imagination?

Jenova did not disappoint.]

You would be wise to reconsider your rejection. I once supplied you with your subjects, allowed your influence to spread across the globe. You are a stranded refugee on Gaia, ever unaware of your full potential.

And, though you may believe otherwise, you are unconscious even now. I can change that.

[One hand pressed tightly against that gaping slice down the middle of his chest which once it decided to stop bleeding his muscles would flinch, or he would move too much and it would start to well up again. The trap door to the basement locked with a heavy clunk and Sephiroth found himself having to grasp out for the kitchen counter for balance. It had been a long time since he'd had to create such a mess in order to get what he wanted. Just half a minute....It'll be alright in just a moment...pain will numb, cells will start to knit everything back together...]

Mother... [No answer. That was strange. Just when he really needed her around right about now she was engaged. What in the hell could be so pressing, she knew what he had to do today, and truth be told he expected her contact well before now] Might have not been so bad [Futile thought that, this had been his fight, his victory and his vengeance. If she'd have interfered it wouldn't have been the same]

Mother... [Second attempt, a little more forceful on the telepathic ( ... )

[She has become aware of her upper hand; he could sense it. He has revealed more than he had intended, and now, retreat is the wisest option.]

Consider it carefully. I am resourceful, as you will see. You-

[But, a sharp flare cuts off his words, the effect explosive in this mental arena. He cringes, feeling the other's anger like a shock wave through him, depriving him, for a moment, of the ability to think.

Goddess and God combined! There is too much he had not anticipated!]

Jarred by the pull and couth interruption by Sephiroth, Jenova released the hold that she had been keeping on Hojo. This was no longer her place, so she simply withdrew from the link entirely and returned to tormenting the little furry creature in the tree again.

Now, what to do with Hojo... surely Sephiroth would have words with the man. Interesting days ahead.

[A whiny voice recognized his own and replied. Mother no longer had this little mans attention which was what Sephiroth wanted. He should back out now, there would be plenty time to try to glean what their conversation contained later on. However preventative action would need to be taken to ensure that this man didn't think that he was inclined to involve himself with them.]

[So Hojo was back amongst the living too, or perhaps he had not really died. Sephiroth was almost 100% certain that the mad scientist would have stayed in Midgar until meteor had come crushing down on top of him, but then again trying to recall things that he should know from in the Lifestream is impossible. Too many blanks. Currently his healing condition is not helping with that, or his mood]

"Now what would a second rate scientist such as yourself be thinking to even consider yourself within right to engage with Mother?"
