[Telepathic conversation to Jenova and Sephiroth]

Feb 21, 2009 12:38

[Drowning again, the haze cool between his fingers, sliding without form over the scars on his skin and the crevasses of his mind. Within the tank, Hojo's head lolls, consciousness surrendered to the green mist before his eyes; an entire population of voices bypasses his ears and sings straight to the auditory centre of his brain. He follows. Green ( Read more... )

Telepathic Conversation Thread #2 sephiroth_san February 21 2009, 23:05:23 UTC
[One hand pressed tightly against that gaping slice down the middle of his chest which once it decided to stop bleeding his muscles would flinch, or he would move too much and it would start to well up again. The trap door to the basement locked with a heavy clunk and Sephiroth found himself having to grasp out for the kitchen counter for balance. It had been a long time since he'd had to create such a mess in order to get what he wanted. Just half a minute....It'll be alright in just a moment...pain will numb, cells will start to knit everything back together...]

Mother... [No answer. That was strange. Just when he really needed her around right about now she was engaged. What in the hell could be so pressing, she knew what he had to do today, and truth be told he expected her contact well before now] Might have not been so bad [Futile thought that, this had been his fight, his victory and his vengeance. If she'd have interfered it wouldn't have been the same]

Mother... [Second attempt, a little more forceful on the telepathic push so to speak but a sudden flash of blurry vision soon informed him that maybe that wasn't such a good idea. He could just force his entire will over her closed door but it might be important. What if something had happened to Kadaj on his way back here...only one way to find out]

[Sephiroth allowed his eyes to close and reached out further, feeling around Jenova's defenses rather than trying to listen in at the closed door. Using his own concentration of Jenova cells to try and determine who was keeping Mother from him, who would have the indecency to strip him of her attention, and to let them know just how displeased he was at this.]

WHO HAVE WE HERE? [Sephiroth's voice bellowed down his own link through Jenova's cells to Hojo, as he had now identified which thread in the delicate spiders web of connections was causing the distraction. It might have been smarter to ascertain whom it was first and possibly attempt to eavesdrop but hey...bad mooded and bloody over here...]

[She has become aware of her upper hand; he could sense it. He has revealed more than he had intended, and now, retreat is the wisest option.]

Consider it carefully. I am resourceful, as you will see. You-

[But, a sharp flare cuts off his words, the effect explosive in this mental arena. He cringes, feeling the other's anger like a shock wave through him, depriving him, for a moment, of the ability to think.

Goddess and God combined! There is too much he had not anticipated!]

Sephiroth!

Jarred by the pull and couth interruption by Sephiroth, Jenova released the hold that she had been keeping on Hojo. This was no longer her place, so she simply withdrew from the link entirely and returned to tormenting the little furry creature in the tree again.

Now, what to do with Hojo... surely Sephiroth would have words with the man. Interesting days ahead.

[A whiny voice recognized his own and replied. Mother no longer had this little mans attention which was what Sephiroth wanted. He should back out now, there would be plenty time to try to glean what their conversation contained later on. However preventative action would need to be taken to ensure that this man didn't think that he was inclined to involve himself with them.]

[So Hojo was back amongst the living too, or perhaps he had not really died. Sephiroth was almost 100% certain that the mad scientist would have stayed in Midgar until meteor had come crushing down on top of him, but then again trying to recall things that he should know from in the Lifestream is impossible. Too many blanks. Currently his healing condition is not helping with that, or his mood]

"Now what would a second rate scientist such as yourself be thinking to even consider yourself within right to engage with Mother?"

[Black and gold replaced by red and silver as the General's baritone entered Hojo's head. Sephiroth's might is astounding, even uncombined with the element of surprise.]

Sephiroth... You haven't changed at all, have you?

[Answering a question with a question, a sure sign that someone doesn't actually know what to say. Sephiroth wonders if Hojo could possibly have thought he could get a private conversation with Jenova. Perhaps as a human he doesn't fully understand the mechanics behind all of these links, He doesn't need to know either. Sephiroth physically shuddered at that thought, however perhaps it was more to do with the adrenaline fading away...]

Answer my question. What do you want with Mother? [What sort of a question was Hojo's supposed to be anyway. Of course he had changed, he'd just proved that to Cloud and was not in the mood to have to justify himself, especially to such a insignificant man]

What I want is very simple. I wish to unleash JENOVA's hidden power - and yours as well. For, who can attest to a greater knowledge of either you or the Celestial Goddess than the one who gave life to you both?

[A touch of pride, still present. But, the remnant of their past relationship weighs on Hojo still. Before Sephiroth, Hojo's back is always bent, his words always lacking conviction.]

I am offering my wisdom. My guidance.

[Hidden power? Pffft, Sephiroth was not about to inform that small rat of a man that they were already at their fullest capabilities nor was he in the mood to go about correcting Hojo's delusions. Besides what could one sniveling human offer them which they could not obtain on their own? The stars were the very limit after all. One thing did require a comment back to however]

Mother has always had her own life, Shinra merely assisted to release her. To speed up the inevitable. We have no interest right now in your 'guidance', what wisdom could a pitiful excuse for a mortal like yourself have for us that we couldn't otherwise obtain... [Sephiroth attempted to stay focused and not bleed thoughts into telepathic word but now was not a good time for this. Perhaps that's why Hojo just didn't get the metaphysical door slammed in his crooked face]

You did not give life to me...

[The denial of his achievements forever on this boy's lips! Is cold detachment better, or this insolent hostility? But Sephiroth does not know - cannot find out - the truth behind his origin.

Hojo's spirit ignites - ever quick to anger when his brilliance is questioned.]

You have no understanding of yourself, Sephiroth! How can you dismiss me, when I was responsible for your upbringing, your education, your strength, your transcendence from the dirt of common existence?

[Plans lay temporarily forgotten. The iciness of the child with green eyes has haunted him for a lifetime and more.]

The boost of mako you received when shut up in the miserable coccoon... How dare you disregard all I have done! I am the reason you live, the source of your power!

[Rant, rant, rant. Just who did this scientist think that he was! Sephiroth knew that Hojo and therefore by proxy ShinRa had been responsible for all that already! Was Hojo trying to force some sort of debt that he owed them into play here? Sephiroth had no such sentiment towards Hojo or ShinRa and would indeed rather see them all burn, there was no excuse for a lifetime of leading him on blindly and telling him lies.]

[How typical that Hojo would get so rattled so easily with mention of his failings, of the curtain of falsehoods he would forever sit behind. Mother had revealed to him all that he had needed to know, she had been more the source of his power. The sheer emotion with which Hojo attempted to spew all of these words was almost amusing. Sephiroth allowed a strained chuckle to travel back towards him.]

Even now you attempt to justify yourself, to rank yourself amongst the greatest! You need to learn... [A wave of steadily warming anger was pushed down this link now, it got hotter and hotter with each moment before it washed over the annoyance at the end of this thread. Sephiroth needed to terminate this conversation now, but he wasn't going to do it without at least issuing a polite warning]

[He had started to rebut, but a sudden blaze of pure hellfire cuts him off abruptly. The force at his temples intensifies until he feels his very skull being reshaped, the pressure against his eyes, his eardrums, his entire head. The flesh contorts, the skeleton shivers within the skin, the soul disintegrates as the mind shatters with Sephiroth's anger.

In the physical plane, the pattern of his brainwaves change dramatically. Knees collide with the floor of the mako tank as he falls against its walls, thin streams of blood crawling from his nose to his mouth, his eyes down his cheeks.

Then...only the silence of defeat.]
