I like this. I was afraid at first it might be an ode to the old US cop show about policemen in Mississippi. But I was happily surprised.

Especially with the line:
~ Vincent Lai. As I call upon my dear, as I try my best to fight, this wistful feeling is real, as real as the heat of the night. ~•

Boy, I had no idea that this poem could stray towards that
of an ode to the old US cop show you're talking about.
Which part of the poem ignited your senses to tht show?
Probably you could enlighten me about what this show is all about..

I couldn't sleep tonight. And some friends kept me company.
And this, is a toast to them. And to my dear on a project in Bali.

The title of the cop show is "in the heat of the night" and there are words like "insecurity" and "irony" that made me remember episodes. And there is a feeling of "parting" that makes me think of things that were happening in my life when I watched.

The show was about a black cop trying to fit in with white cops in a racist town in the US south.

I hope your dear returns safely to you soon. :D

Ohh.. I think I remember watching a series of that same title when I was very much younger.
And apparently it didn't make a lasting impression on me. hehee :Þ
It's purely coincidental that I used words associated with that show.

Hmmm.. sounds like that show didn't have good vibes on you either.
Parting never sounds good in anyway. But it's inevitable that it happens, always.

My dear is back home now, but I can only see him this weekend down south.

How is your exam so far? Hope you are doing fine. *hugs*

all that felt close to heart,
amidst a soaking inside,
as I mentally fill my part,
closing in on the physical divide.

Not easy to be apart huh! Should listen to Michael Buble's song Home. Its my current favourite song.

I'm doing ok. Exam is over. Did so-so I think. :)

It's never easy to be apart from your loved one.
I'll look out for Michael Bublé's song Home.
