Serenity was up early, a little too early to her liking. Normally, she had no problems sleeping, but her body refused to stay asleep for much longer. Making her way out to the Moon Palace's gardens, a robe draped around her small form, she curled up on a bench to watch the Earth rise over the horizon.

Join the princess?

He still remembers so long ago, when he first learned who the beautiful girl was who'd captivated his heart, asking her what the Earth looked like viewed from her palace on the moon.

Now Endymion is here. He makes a polite greeting to the blonde princess he knows is not his own world's, but he has a pleasant greeting for her all the same.

"It looks beautiful at this time of day," he remarks. "Do we seem like that to you all the time?" Everything on Earth is so small from here.

"Hm?" Serenity is removed from her daydreams with the sound of Endymion's voice. She looks up, then immediately stands, wrapping the robe around her tighter. Modest princess is modest.

"Prince Endymion!" She blushes, flustered beyond belief. She knows who he is, even if he isn't her prince. "The... We don't think like that. I swear."

Leave it to him to put his foot in his mouth right from the start. Endymion gives Serenity a wry smile.

"I know that," he promises her. "I'm sorry. I was speaking thoughtlessly."

"But truthfully." She nods sadly. "Many of my people do. I can't help that they think that way... I can only try and show them that your people are as great as mine."

She smiles, then moves to take her seat once more. She pats the empty space on the bench beside her. "Join me?"

Mercury gives her friend - the princess is still very much her friend, in any form - a smile, but her tone is lightly chiding as she comes nearer.

"You cannot watch the Earth all day and neglect your lessons, Princess," she cautions.

The moon princess sighs. "Mercury. It's still too early for lessons. Just a bit longer?"

She really could watch the Earth all day. The swirling clouds, relentless storms, they were beautiful.

"But we have many subjects to review today..." Mercury argues plaintively, even though she already knows it's a losing battle. They'll go back and forth like this for awhile, until Mercury finally gives in and tells Serenity they'll put off lessons, or hold lessons on the terrace she can still see Earth from.

Not today. Serenity just seemed to nod, clutching her rob just a bit tighter. She seemed... happy today, for a lack of a better term. She was content, even with the little sleep she had gotten.

"All right. Maybe 10 more minutes? I just want to finish watching the Earth rise."

This is Mercury. That much is clear from her face and the mark of her planetary sigil on her forehead. Yet instead of her bright enthusiasm and lively curiosity about Earth from centuries ago, this one watches the earthrise impassively; and she is long familiar with the planet that was once a mystery.

If she knows the princess is there, she doesn't greet the other girl. Perhaps it's easier to block her out, to only enjoy the rare treat of this view from space. But the quiet can't last long.

Serenity isn't too oblivious to her surroundings, she knows someone is there near her. A quick glance up, and a smile curls on her lips.

"Mercury... up early to watch the Earth rise too?"

It bothers her to hear the princess treating her so naturally, as if nothing has ever happened between them other than for the good.

She only needs the sight in front of her, the knowledge that she's in the moon kingdom, to know it's true. But she also knows how it changed, changes, will change. She keeps herself impassive, neither snapping as a part of her would like to, nor warming up to her chance companion.

"I haven't seen it in a long time," she says carefully. That much is true, and yet can be understood a number of ways.

Her Mercury is a trusted confidant, so she's as natural as she can possibly get. "You should watch it more often."

She pauses, watching some of the clouds swirl for a moment. "It help me think."
