Serenity was up early, a little too early to her liking. Normally, she had no problems sleeping, but her body refused to stay asleep for much longer. Making her way out to the Moon Palace's gardens, a robe draped around her small form, she curled up on a bench to watch the Earth rise over the horizon.

He still remembers so long ago, when he first learned who the beautiful girl was who'd captivated his heart, asking her what the Earth looked like viewed from her palace on the moon.

Now Endymion is here. He makes a polite greeting to the blonde princess he knows is not his own world's, but he has a pleasant greeting for her all the same.

"It looks beautiful at this time of day," he remarks. "Do we seem like that to you all the time?" Everything on Earth is so small from here.

"Hm?" Serenity is removed from her daydreams with the sound of Endymion's voice. She looks up, then immediately stands, wrapping the robe around her tighter. Modest princess is modest.

"Prince Endymion!" She blushes, flustered beyond belief. She knows who he is, even if he isn't her prince. "The... We don't think like that. I swear."

Leave it to him to put his foot in his mouth right from the start. Endymion gives Serenity a wry smile.

"I know that," he promises her. "I'm sorry. I was speaking thoughtlessly."

"But truthfully." She nods sadly. "Many of my people do. I can't help that they think that way... I can only try and show them that your people are as great as mine."

She smiles, then moves to take her seat once more. She pats the empty space on the bench beside her. "Join me?"

"You're not responsible for their wrong ideas," Endymion says, his tone a bit clipped from the old, old frustration. There are already those on his Earth who speak against the Moon, who complain of their non-existent arrogance and fabricate all manner of imaginary plots they're sure the Moon is hatching.

He's sure they're not.

She knows that tone of voice. She's heard it from her prince before. She just couldn't understand what everyone's problem was. She loved the Earth and its people, and she loved its prince. They were just like her people.

"But I can try and fix them. Sit. I insist."

Oh. Right. Sitting. He's a bit too tense, but with the repeated invitation, Endymion nods and avails himself of it to lower his weight onto a seat near Serenity's, close by to continue their conversation.

"Everyone will understand," he tells her. "They'll see the truth eventually."

"Eventually. With your help as well, of course." A hand raises to brush a few strands of blond hair from her face.

"Change is something that has to be eased into, Endymion. No one is truly accepting at first."

She's wise, his princess. But he's seen things that disturb him, that make him feel a pressure to resolve the tensions and issues and questions now before they really do lead to tragedy.

"But we don't know how much time we have left," he says with uncharacteristic seriousness.

"How much time we have left? Until what?" Serenity's genuinely confused, and she turns to look at her companion.

"Is there something wrong?"

He just assumed- He assumed she'd understand! He hates having to say it, but he must, and he won't shrink back from it.

"You know the prophesies and taboos," he says. At least...

Maybe she doesn't. Maybe this is even a world where there was never an obstacle between them in the way of their love.

"Prophecies? Taboos?" Serenity laughed. She outright laughed. "Don't be so silly! My mother's been speaking with your father for weeks now for a peace treaty."

She leans back on her arms, her robe slipping open slightly. "Just because people are afraid of change doesn't mean crazy prophecies or taboos are popping up. Though, granted, I've snuck down to Earth quite a bit... but that's not going to cause too much of a fuss."

If he were a different man, he might feel a stab of envy. Instead, what comes is gratitude on behalf of her world, that it seems they'll be able to avoid those things.

"If there's peace, I'm glad," Endymion says sincerely. "But don't provoke the people."

"My mother would have my head if I provoked the people. It's not my intention to cause any interstellar wars." That was a bad pun, Endymion.

"You seem shocked about it though."

He's always torn when it comes to her and his troubles. On the one hand, he doesn't want his problems to pass to her; he wants her to continue being innocent and untouched and happy. On the other hand, the nexus has forced him to become serious, and maybe by making her serious, too, they can really prevent what would surely come otherwise.

"It's different for me," he admits. "There have been small-scale natural disasters occurring on Earth already. Our relationship is said to be at fault."

"They'll always blame love for something that could have been prevented by diplomacy." She says diplomatically, her voice sounding oddly like her mother's.

"Natural disasters? Yes, because the power of our love can move mountains." She adds sarcastically.
