[so this is all very interesting. He could have asked Samehada how he knows Crow the normal way, but that would be public. And sensible. So instead, he silently drops out of one of the trees ringing Samehada's camp a little while after the journal exchanges.]

[thanks to his arboreal tendencies, none of the traps around the camp have been triggered. Yet.]

[Kisame is sleeping - or so it appears - laid back on the grass with his knees bent and his head on a small pack, left arm covering his eyes. His sword is stuck in the ground next to him and a small pot of water bubbles quietly over the fire by his feet.

He doesn't move when Kirin drops into the clearing a few feet away, and nor does he shift his arm from its position over his eyes.]

Kirin-san. You're lucky it's daylight.

[His tone is amused, and maybe there's a glint of teeth before he suddenly leaps forward into a crouch in one movement, the knife that had been concealed in his right sleeve embedding itself with a thunk into the tree-trunk just behind the intruder.]

[doesn't even flinch as the knife passes perilously close to his face. If anything his expression becomes more bored.

That doesn't change as he half-turns away to yank the knife back out of the tree and throw it back in a smooth movement. He even avoids the temptation to 'miss' and hit something other than the ground next to Samehada's foot, so that's progress.]

[There's a definite smirk now, and Samehada reaches out to pull the knife from the earth, wiping the blade on his long, black coat as he gets fully to his feet.

He uses it to hook the pot off of the fire, setting it down on a flat rock before returning the knife to his pocket. There's a faint whiff of tea, the black kind.]

Have you got orders for me, Kirin-san? Or were you just looking for company?
