I don't know if I've filled everyone in on my lovely neighbor downstairs.  Since we moved in, he has consistently complained of our "excessive walking," which supposedly wakes him up while he's trying to sleep. For most of August and September, he would let us know we were "walking too much" by throwing a ball against his ceiling, making a loud ( Read more... )

I know all about the crazy neighbors. Just try not to let him have an impact on your lives that he can see. That is what he wants. Ignore him as much as possible other than formal interactions through your landlord. Also, you might check your lease to see if there is anything about having to abide by the quiet hours, being courteous to neighbors, etc., maybe if there is something like that there he could be evicted. It's terrible, but if he's that unstable I surely wouldn't want to live anywhere near someone like that.

Wow I would be ready to kill myself, like literally, if I were in your position. I'm so sorry! I wish you could be like "I'm going to be a lawyer soon so I'm going to sue you for all you're worth!" but I know that wouldn't work. Shouldn't he be mad at the landlord and/or original builder for making the floors too thin?

Hah, wow, are you sure you're not in law school yet? Because that comment just totally reminded me of all the (real!) cases we've been reading about someone getting in a car accident and suing the dealer, the distributor, the manufacturer, and everything but the kitchen sink. I mean yesterday I managed to create a plausible way to sue the manufacturer of my bed for the cats keeping me awake. It gets out of hand - so you're off to a good start!
