Oh of course not! My posts are public for a reason :)
I've always felt that music is an international language so for the longest time I didn't understand what the fuss was about. And now that I do, I find it depressing that people can be so ignorantly close-minded.
Keeping your posters up is something you should be proud of - listening to your music without being ashamed is something you should be proud of. So many people struggle with it that it's soemthing beautiful when you can be compeletely comfortable with your music and yourself.
Thank you for the comment! I'm loving how honest everyone is being :)
Oh wow! I've had the same kind of thing happen to me in a Japanese resturant I went to. The waiter wasn't Japanese but was pretending to be, and he had been kind of snide to my friend who is Japanese, but looks Korean. It was an interesting thing to see.
There are all kinds of social prejudices in the very framework of Canadian society, and I always scoff at people who state that we're "multicultural," or that Americans are pig-headed and racist and we Canadians are not. Because it isn't true - it never has been true - and I'd like them to point out one aspect of our society that is, truely, 100%, unabashedly accepting, accomodating, and open to any and all ethnicities. I dare them.
Not that I hate Canada. Do I sound like I hate Canada? I don't hate Canada.
I'm totally sorry I'm creeping this, a friend just sent it to me and it resonated with me so clearly that I really have to give my two cents in

Thank you very much for your comments! I really love getting peoples opinions, and even more, by hearing their own stories revolving around the stigmatism that Asia and "asians" have gotten - and anyone else for having an interest in Asia. I've had the same sort of problems as you, it seems, when discussing interests. I suppose this is something anyone with an interest in Asia that doesn't heavily rotate around anime or manga has to deal with.
As for the Vancouver Olympics - the way they went about displaying Canada was very hypocritical. Friends of mine have openly complained about it to me, though I'll admit I never really paid much attention to all the hype surrounding the olympics - I'm kind of against countries.I'm sorry about your boyfriend-thing. That is terrible, but not something you feel alone - because I guarantee you my family would have and has had similar reactions

First sorry for popping out of nowhere but this catche my atention too much to let it passed out. Second: this... God I cant find words to tell you how much it hits me. Reading this and remembering all the times I was presented as the girl who like koreans, remembering all the times I have to and need to correct someone cause they can get another person nationality right. And I had to do what you did (about hiding it) but I grew tired of that. So now is the first thing I say. If I get segregated by it then whatever is their lost.
And I had to do what you did (about hiding it) but I grew tired of that. So now is the first thing I say. If I get segregated by it then whatever is their lost. That's incredably big of you. I know so many people who back out and refuse to say anything about the music or entertainment or things they're interested in. Which is really sad. Being able to bring it up right away is really commendable, especially with a past of being segregated for it. I've come to star being realy laissez-faire about it now; eh, people will do what they want. My interests shouldn't dictate who my friends are. :|
I think we all get tired of it, honestly. It takes too much energy to hide things like that.
And no worries about just popping in :) I love it when people comment!
Late-night boredom, fandom browsing, and fic-hopping gets me everywhere ;)
They are highly educated, against racism, all that jazz. This so much. I have so many family members that profess to be educated, liberal, open minded people. But as soon as something pertaining to Japan/Korea/China/Taiwan/Thailand/Vietnam/Ect. pops up, it's like hey, it's okay to laugh at this oh-so-foreign culture. And I honestly cannot be okay with that. Especially since recently, North Korea has been flexing their muscles - if I casually mention anything about studying Korean or listening to music, everyone goes "OMG CHING CHONG KOREAN SPY" on me. Which is unbelievably offensive and surprising, especially when it comes from my Aunt, who has worked with youth promoting cultural diversity and acceptance for some 20+ years. Double standards, people :|
...anime-people lol what does that even mean XD I don't think I could react to that straight faced. All that my mind conjures from hearing that is images of those giant anime-inspired mascots, crawling out of

Wassup! So I'm seriously happy I eventually discovered this excellent website due to the fact that I personally ended up attempting to find it since a while as this is a quite informative internet page. I am about to introduce myself right now. Now I am twenty two yoa and I have just jumped into higher education at University of Scranton. I really desire to play competitive sports such as wind surfing as well as enjoy applications such as Battle Heat. My brand new hobby is about google Sniper 2.0 review.
