Well, life has hit us very hard and it looks like my writing time will have to be traded for some money making work to help bail us out. I wish there was another option, but I’m not seeing one. Next Monday I’m hitting the temp office and filling out forms, taking tests, ect…. And see if I can get part time temp work so I don’t have to sacrifice all ( Read more... )

Life is hitting everyone hard and if just now you need to find a job outside the house, count your previous time as golden.

And good luck with the job hunt. I seriously mean that. Going out and landing a job, any kind of even temp job, wasn't what it was a few years ago.

Yeah we squeezed the time we could and tightened the budget as far as it would stretch, but until the first novel comes out and brings in some cash this looks like the best option. Temps about all I could get, since I have to be here when the kids have off days from school, can't afford child care. Couldn't get a reg job, most of the places I worked went out of business years ago, so no references.

We'll manage, though I wish it didn't hit us quite so hard this close to Soltice and the kids B-days. If I can find something quick, then I'll feel on more stable ground. I don't plan to give up my writing completely, that'd just make me resentful, but what time I do have I'll have to make darn productive.

Can't tell you how much I admire you - on several counts. First, your decision to be a SAHM. In the UK this option is often treated with derision, as if the mother was taking the easy way out (as if mothering wasn't a proper job!)

Second, your determination to find work to support your family's needs (wish you luck with that.)

Third, your dedication to your writing. Each time I read about this, you inspire me. Here I am, retired & with few calls on my time, procrastinating like I invented the state!

You have my 'awe' in shedloads!

Blessings :)
