So why does Smokey bother appearing as Locke when everybody's cottoned on to who he really is?

Because once Jacob died, MIB is stuck in Locke's body. That's what Ilana said.

Forget about Annie. I think the producers did.

Oh, I missed that. This calls for another re-watch. (Why does Jacob dying mean Smokey can't have his body back? He was using other people's bodies, like Christian's, before Jacob died.)

Forget about Annie? Then who was Richard pointing out to Ben that he buried after Ben left? (I don't really think they forgot about Annie; I think they just didn't have enough time to resolve the story; thus all we see of her is her grave.)
