What is a thing that you see as a fundamental character trait of yours that you wouldn't ever want to be without?

For me, I think it's a sense of play. No matter how much craziness there is in the world, I basically always have time for a little ridiculousness.

What's yours?

I was going to say intellectual curiosity but I wouldn't want to be without a sense of play/silliness either. (It never ceases to crack me up when my 7 yo says "Mo-o-om, you're being silly!" as if she's never seen me being silly before.) Guess they'd be one and two on my list.

Oooh! Good question.

I think for me, it's my unrelenting openness to the world. I have a permeable membrane, and don't ever want it to harden.

There are other traits I'd prefer on occasion, but one is my practicality - even when I want a nice wallow there's part of me that is always figuring out how best to use the available resources, why it's not the end of the world, etc.

An interest in research and in finding out the right answer. (Which is different from the need to be right in an argument, something that I've improved on.)

I think this is another way of saying what I wanted to say with 'curiosity', although I'm pretty content with the 'curiosity' phrasing too. It is a wonderful trait and more people should have it.
