Last night, N was dancing around the kitchen singing the Gummi Bear song (warning: do not click that link unless you really, really want to hear a singing electronic gummi bear). On the off chance you mean that as more than a rhetorical question, my theory after watching these things [read: my kids] evolve is that it's nearly all about the training we unintentially give them. When she does something that delights you, you ... act delighted, and that's a powerful motivator. It helps that she's clever; it probably also helps that she sees other people delight you (I imagine), so to some extent she can work off of imitating that. What's so great of course is that she's creative in her imitation -- imitating the style of humor, but in creative new ways.
