[Action- Campfire Post III] [Locked to people in Terra]

Aug 22, 2010 10:31

[Trying to get back to Bran Bal, and to Invincible, has been a trial in errors. Even with all of the party working together at trying to remember the way, they have inevitably gotten lost in the bleak wasteland without Mikoto's guidance.

At the moment, the group has stopped to rest for the night. They're all exhausted, and still injured to various ( Read more... )

[The dragoon does her best to help keep their bearings, but even she with her tracking skills and heightened senses could not make sense of their path. This world is too strange, the wasteland too vast. To her shame, she could give them little aid. Certainly not enough to reach the Invincible.

Mjrn is exhausted to the point of showing it when they stop for the night, something she rarely allows to happen. But there's no hiding it this time, and she only barely manages not to let her supplies just fall to the ground when they reach a camping site. They can't afford to have any potions broken, after all.

She checks around, offering what potions she has left, then chooses a spot to sit. Her shoulders sag, and it's tempting to curl up and pass out, but there are things that need to be discussed and she doesn't want to miss any of that. The young Viera glances to Warrior of Light expectantly.]

[Refia pulled the sled to a halt in the middle of one of the only flat spaces she could find, breathing heavily and definitely looking worse for wear. Sometimes the darn thing was an infernal nuisance, but they needed it badly. Shifting bags around, she finally found the one that contained the many, many clinking bottles she'd packed, lifting it off and opening it.]

I've got Hi-Potions here, for anyone who needs them.

[The Warrior of Light has been driven ever since Garland made his transformation in to the man more familiar to him. It isn't that he isn't disappointed- he's certainly tired, and wounded, and angered that Garland was able to escape them. Mostly, he is driven by the knowledge that his nemesis is still alive somewhere, continuing his cycle of chaos.

When they stop, it is with some reluctance on his part, though it is overridden by common sense. They need to stop for some time.

He pulls off his helmet as he joins the others in the makeshift center of the camp.]

We need to be prepared to face battle before we move on. Garland escaped us, and he may be waiting to strike at us once again. Scouting will be necessary, but we cannot lose anyone else, for any reason. [He pauses for a moment to glance over at the unresponsive Mikoto.]

[Mikoto is now more a burden than an aid. Without her soul, she has nothing to contribute. She remains with the party only because they have brought her along.

She sits by the fire as she normally does, but her gaze is vacant.]

[Vivi sits with her in silence, wanting to speak to her in hopes that doing so will trigger some tiny remaining piece of Mikoto but with no idea what to say. And really, he's well aware that it wouldn't work.

Still, eventually, he holds the battered toy Figaro soldier up to her.]

The man at the market stall said I could call him Owain. He's really strong and he protects his city.

[Mikoto looks at the toy soldier, a tiny frown creasing her brow. She doesn't reply.]

[He keeps trying, waving the soldier around a little.]

I was going to call him Josef like in the story. Um. But he died and Owain isn't gonna die.

[Restless and unable to sleep or rest, Edward was scouring the horizon in search of any clues. Everything on Terra looked the same, and without the morning sun to guide their path or Mikoto, these poor heroes were stranded on a dead world. Trying his best to remain optimistic, the bard continues searching for any noticeable landmarks that could help them find their way. It was a fruitless endeavor, but Edward simply could not rest.]

What is that over there?

[Mjrn so wants to rest, but Edward's question draws her attention and she follows his gaze, peering at the horizon with interest.]

What do you mean?

That land mass over there...

[Edward pointed towards a random structure that seemed to be jutting out from the earth itself.]

Did we not pass it days ago?

[Mjrn stares...and nods with a sigh, shoulders slumping.]

It does seem quite familiar....

[He's clearly worn out, but the Warrior of Light has yet to retire. Instead, he's standing at the edge of their camp and staring out into the night. The sudden appearance of his Garland, the opponent he has fought so many times, is making him remember his time in the Void. All of their journey on Terra has reminded him of that time.

The only difference is the absence of a Goddess to guide them.]

[ Blank can't sleep and so comes over to stand at the Warrior of Light's side. The group have embraced this man as their leader since Mikoto is in no state to guide them. The thought of Mikoto causes Blank to sigh, he hates seeing her like that. She may not technically be a part of his family, but he sees her as a sister regardless. ]

Gil for your thoughts?

[The Warrior of Light glances next to him at Blank, nodding in acknowledgment of his presence, before returning his gaze to the landscape.]

My thoughts are of the world I was in before I found myself on Gaia, and the Goddess I served.

[After a pause, less a thoughtful one than a slightly angry oen,] And of Garland.

Bastards like Garland always get what's coming to them. Every storybook will tell you so. The bad guys always lose out in the end. Doesn't take away the suffering they've already caused though.

[ Of couse Blank knows the difference between fairytale and reality, but he also knows a lot of stories have at least a little truth to them. Besides, morale is at an all time low and everyone needs adream to hold on to, right? ]
