Aug 22, 2010 10:31

[Trying to get back to Bran Bal, and to Invincible, has been a trial in errors. Even with all of the party working together at trying to remember the way, they have inevitably gotten lost in the bleak wasteland without Mikoto's guidance.

At the moment, the group has stopped to rest for the night. They're all exhausted, and still injured to various ( Read more... )

[Mikoto is now more a burden than an aid. Without her soul, she has nothing to contribute. She remains with the party only because they have brought her along.

She sits by the fire as she normally does, but her gaze is vacant.]

[Vivi sits with her in silence, wanting to speak to her in hopes that doing so will trigger some tiny remaining piece of Mikoto but with no idea what to say. And really, he's well aware that it wouldn't work.

Still, eventually, he holds the battered toy Figaro soldier up to her.]

The man at the market stall said I could call him Owain. He's really strong and he protects his city.

[Mikoto looks at the toy soldier, a tiny frown creasing her brow. She doesn't reply.]

[He keeps trying, waving the soldier around a little.]

I was going to call him Josef like in the story. Um. But he died and Owain isn't gonna die.

[The name Josef reaches Firion's ears and he looks over to Vivi.]

Josef? What story is this?

[He scoots closer, ignoring the soreness of his muscles]

[Vivi turns, placing the soldier down near Mikoto in the hope that it'll get some sort of reaction out of her.]

Um. It's a story that eidolons tell, I think. An eidolon told it to my friend. It's, um, it's about a man named Josef and his daughter.

His daughter is Nelly, she and the other villagers were slaves to the Emperor Mateus. How do... how do the Eidolon know about him?

[He nods, surprised that someone else knows the story. He's never seen it written down in a book or heard it told by anyone other than Ramuh and Garnet]

Yup. You knew the story, too? I never knew the Emperor's name, only that he fought against a bad empire.

It... it isn't just a story.

He's my friend. Josef helped me and my friends against the Emperor. But he died to save us.

For the record, Sumi says Garnet chose the 'human' ending. Bawww, Firion. morehatthanmage August 22 2010, 20:26:00 UTC
...oh. Um.

[There's not really much he can say to that. In his mind, he can still hear Garnet repeating 'heroes are also human' to Ramuh.]

Human ending? thisdesertrose August 22 2010, 20:27:44 UTC
This is the third time something from my world has turned up in another's... how strange.

HTMLFAIL. SORRY FOR REPOST morehatthanmage August 22 2010, 20:34:19 UTC
OOC: There's two potential endings Garnet can give the story. One is 'hero' and is summed up as 'Josef was a true hero for what he did'. The other is 'human' and is essentially 'Firion, Maria and Guy were too guilty over Josef's death to inform his daughter'

[Vivi fidgets.]

I don't know much more. It was Ramuh who told the story to my friend.

Maybe once you go back to your world you should look for a summoner. Then you could ask him what he knows.

[OOC: I see. I never played IX. XD Well, bawww. Though I've fairly certain they do tell Nelly. XD]

How... does he know?

[He shakes his head]

We do not have summoners.

[Mikoto will just be sitting here quietly while they talk. It's difficult to tell if she's listening or not.]

I don't know. Eiko said some of the sky people summoners call the same eidolons as she and Dagger do, but...

I- I don't know how to talk to him, then.
