Pubs

Hi guys. I'm one of the organizers of a grad student orientation (and unfortunately, like the undergrads, we don't run through the streets screaming and yelling drunk obscenities). In any case, for one event, we are going to take them to a 5 a 7 (happy hour) on one weekday next week, preferably on Crescent or in that area anyway ( Read more... )

I went to the Irish Embassy last night it seemed pretty cheap in general, and they have a nice terrasse and a good selection of both food and beer. It's on Bishop street below St Catherine (I think the address is 1234).
You could also try Brutopia and Hurleys. There's always the 3 Brasseurs which has 2for1 deals on some of their beers between 4-8 I think.

Oh right! I think 3 Brasseurs is a pint for the price of a half-pint on certain beers (was there for supper last week). And the only other place I've attempted during happy hour was Hurleys, which disappointingly didn't have any specials - at least at the time last year.

I'll definitely have to look into the Irish Embassy and Brutopia. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

http://www.brutopia.net/brutopia.htm (has a list of beers and a menu but no sign of drink specials)

Winnie's (and here come the flamers LOL!!)

But no, seriously, they actually have a *FREE* appetizers/hors-d'oeuvres buffet thing. And it's 2-for-1 curing happy hour. If I remember correctly, happy hour actually runs from 4 to 8 during the week, but definately from 5-7.

Good luck!!

Yeah I totally forgot about that place too! But I went on a Wednesday when there were drink specials all night and the basement is a crazy dance party.

Winnie's... is that the Winston Churchill Pub?
That's a great suggestion - thank you!

Yeah or at least in that complex... There's Sir Winston's, Winnie's and some dance club thing on the third floor and a jazz bar, I think on the fourth.

I personally think you should have them pubcrawl in hochelaga dives/bars.

Haha, maybe I'll have to make that a second, separate event!

hahaha - I've often debated doing that! we did a dive crawl on Ste Catherine once, but the dives there aren't nearly as divey :P
Have you done it? what were the high (or low?) lights?
