repairing headphones?

Feb 04, 2010 22:45

i bought a gorgeous and $$$ pair of headphones last year, and i must have pulled a little too hard tonight getting them out of my bag, since the left ear no longer works. one of the copper wires has been pulled/cut. is there any way of fixing it? know any place/person who can? i'd really rather not buy new ones.

thanks!

You might be able to get a warranty replacement, though I would tell them it's broken and not say that you think it's your fault. Probably best to try that first since third party repair will likely void the warranty.

I actually meant manufacturer's warranty.

a part of me knew i should have kept the box/receipt. i remember looking through the box though and there was nothing about a warranty.

I know if I buy something with my visa it's automatically insured, though I'm not sure of the conditions exactly. But, it you used a credit card, maybe look into it. Or contact the manufacturer?
As to where to get it repaired, I would call Steve's music and ask their audio people (www.stevesmusic.com). I'm not sure if they do repairs, but they're generally competent and could probably tell you where to go if they don't do it themselves.
Good luck!

my friend has been fixing his headphones using a soldering iron. i'm not sure if it was his or a loan. i'll ask him if he is able to do it. otherwise, find someone you know with a soldering iron and a mr.fix-it attitude.

he said he'll do it if he can. headphones aren't always broken in ways that are fixable with soldering irons. but ya, he'll give it a shot. message me for a meet.
