OOC: Info Bandwagon

Lion-o is from the animated kids show Thundercats. The Thunderans are a species of cat-like humanoids that live on a planet called Thundera. The Thundercats -- Lion-o, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, and fraternal twins WileyKat and WileyKit -- are Thunderan nobles who sit on the ruling council. They are led the wise warrior Jaga and Claudus, Lion-o's father and the hereditary Lord of the Thundercats.

The show itself actually starts when Thundera is destroyed in an explosion, so the version of Lion-o in Fandom is pre-canon. In other words, I'm having to make up some of this stuff as I go along. Lion-o is just a small boy who will one day have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, but he thinks that's a long way off. Lion-o's father was blinded in a battle with their mortal enemies, the evil Mutants from the planet Plun-darr. His mother is totally absent in canon, so I've adopted the theory that Lion-o's mother was killed in a Mutant attack. He won't be talking about her a lot.

Lion-o has his caretaker, Snarf, with him. Snarfs are smaller, intelligent cat-like furry non-humanoid creatures that also come from Thundera. They are very loyal and incapable of evil. They usually have names, except this one is named Osbert so he much prefers to go as Snarf. Snarf has taken care of Lion-o since he was a small cub. He cooks, cleans, and generally hangs out in Lion-o's dorm room when he's not nagging Lion-o.

During a visit to Nemesis Island last year, Lion-o ran into trouble and the Sword of Omens came to his aid. The Sword of Omens belongs to the Lord of the Thundercats. It's got a lot of nifty powers, including the ability to change sizes, but right now, the only powers Lion-o will be using is Sight Beyond Sight and warnings of danger. The sword will allow Lion-o to see faraway events in real time, though I am limiting this to the boundaries of Fandom Island except for special plotty circumstances. The sword also has a psychic conenction with Lion-o and will also alert him whenever someone is in trouble, even while its stored in the weapons locker. I'd love to see Lion-o and the sword help out in any sort of plot.

The Thundercats didn't actually wear any clothing when they lived on Thundera (this was a kids show?) and there's only two episodes where you see him as a young boy. That means I didn't have a lot of usable screencaps to make icons from. You'll see that I'm probably using the same icon over and over again. I do have some adult Lion-o icons and they may occasionally pop-up in a thread just, but for now, Lion-o is still just a little boy.

And one last random fact: Lion-o's voice actor is Larry Kenney, who is provides the voices of Count Chocula and Sonny the Coco-Puffs Bird.

Hoshi is from Star Trek: Enterprise. She's from the same universe as Kirk and Spock from from a century before them (and about two centuries ahead of Worf and Naomi Wildman, the other two Trek characters in Fandom). Hoshi is a linguistic genius who was home-schooled and kept extremely isolated by her parents. Fandom High was a little bit of a culture shock but now she loves being around people and will be very reluctant to give up the high school environment.

She's capable of learning new languages very quickly and even capable of producing some non-human vocalizations. If you're from Earth, she can even pinpoint your hometown based on the your accent (though this does require some OOC communication before she'll offer up that information). She's also a latent telepath, but that was something brought up just for one episode and very quickly forgotten, so it's not explained very well in her canon. There may be plans to rectify this eventually.

There is no Starfleet Academy during Hoshi's time, but recently she was approached by an official from Starfleet who suggested that she leave high school at the end of this semester and immediately start Starfleet training. She's going to be going back and forth for a while, trying to decide what to do.

One last thing: Enterprise didn't exactly stick to established canon during its run so there's a lot of breaks in continuity. There's also a large group of fans (myself included) who don't accept the series finale as canon and see some portions of the show as an AU of the Star Trek universe. I am fine with Hoshi accidentally learning things about the future, because she doesn't actually know they'll apply to her future. Her existence in Fandom is a result of someone manipulating the time line.

Mary and Mike are both from the show Las Vegas which got canceled last year in the middle of its 5th season. Literally in the middle: they had finished part 1 of a two-parter before the writers strike and had 3 more episodes planned which never saw the light. Mike is an MIT-educated engineering geek and former compulsive gambler. He's had an interesting career path from being head valet at a Vegas casino to working his way up to head of surveillance and security before leaving to teach in Fandom. He is now going back to his world to take a job as president of operations at a new casino, but he's got expatriate status and will post his new adventures from time to time.

Mary tried to kill her abusive father to keep him from abusing her much younger sisters. She then fled Las Vegas for Fandom, where she became owner and manager of the Arms Hotel. She's a total sweetheart with a heart of gold. She's been engaged to her childhood sweetheart but did not marry him. Then she was proposed to by her next live-in boyfriend but opted not to marry him either. Then she got involved with her boss, Casey Manning, but dumped him because he was paranoid about his personal safety. He subsequently was murdered. In Fandom, she got engaged again, but her fiancé left town last summer. She's still wearing her engagement ring but has started dating again. I kind of doubt at this point that she'll get seriously involved with anyone, but it could happen. If you need the Arms Hotel or Mary's party-planning services, let me know. The hotel itself has its own info post.

I'm Thena, and I'm in CST but I'm a chronic insomniac so I post at odd hours sometimes. I used to have the nickname EvilLynn in college, so I do remember the '80s. I don't have Internet access at work (where they've even blocked the company website!) but the economic downturn means that I'm not at work an awful lot anymore and looking for a new job. I usually work weekends and some evenings, which means I'm almost always available on weekdays. I also live with a disabled parent, so there may be times where I have to drop everything because he needs help. I have a personal journal (evyllynn) that's friends only where I complain a lot about work, and I'm almost always on Twitter where I talk about everything else.
