OOC: What you need to know about the Arms Hotel

Jan 05, 2008 01:52

The Arms Hotel provides temporary lodging for Fandom residents and their out-of-town guests. There are also a number of permanent residents. Guests enjoy amenities such as 24-hour-room service and maid service. The hotel also has its own in-house restaurant, which is conveniently located within/adjacent the lobby area so they can be covered with a single post. You don't necessarily have to be staying there to eat or pick up food when the lobby is open for business.

The hotel is owned and run by Mary Connell, who hails from Las Vegas. She loves special requests. Mary used to be a special events coordinator and casino host before becoming the manager of a large resort on the Strip, so she would be happy to help you plan your party, event or convention. The hotel does have two ballrooms available as well as some ultra-fancy suites for smaller parties.

Since Las Vegas is always reinventing itself, Mary is constantly in the process of remodeling the hotel, so nothing is set in stone. There are a handwavey number of floors with a handwavey number of rooms available to accommodate special events. You are welcome to do an IC check-in whenever the lobby is open, or you can contact me OOCly to get a room assignment and handwave the check-in process.

Guests staying in even-numbered rooms have a view of Serenity Cove while guests in odd-numbered rooms have a view of the town. Don't have a room number? Contact me OOCly and I'll set you up with one. The rooms are moddable except for anything specified at check-in, i.e. no putting in a stripper pole unless Mary specifies that you're in the Stripper Pole Suite.

The hotel has a whole staff of NPC housekeeping and kitchen staff all taking direction from Gunther, Mary's right hand man. Gunther was a famous Las Vegas chef who worked for Mary's friend Delinda Deline until she decided to hire Wolfgang Puck. Gunther subsequently quit rather than share the spotlight, and now he's working in Fandom while waiting for a crew from the Food Network to show up and put him on TV. It's not likely to happen soon. Gunther speaks with a very heavy German accent and his food can be very good but can also be insanely bad. He also has a fondness for wearing really bad clothes. Gunther was portrayed by the incredible Harry Groener, who is known for a lot of other roles and can be mistaken for someone else. For example, Faith made him cry and Hoshi might recognize him from a politician from her world. Gunther and his staff can be modded if necessary.

The staff of the Arms Hotel takes nudity very seriously. There are extra bathrobes at the desk and an emergency strategically-placed fruitbowl in case of accidental guest nudity. The wall behind the front desk is decorated with knives, and one section of the lobby contains River's towel animal zoo. The lobby also has plenty of comfy seating for guests who want to lounge and chat.

Stripper Pole Suite: This suite features a state of the art sound system, full kitchen and minibar, separate bedroom with king-sized bed and mirrors on the ceiling, and balcony overlooking Serenity Cove. Oh, yeah, and the living room has pink walls and features a small stage with a stripper pole.

Bridal Suite: Tastefully decorated in shades of ivory. Features a separate bedroom with king-sized bed, extra large shower with dual shower heads, and large heart-shaped tub with room for two.

Jello Dragon Suite: No, it's not really jello! It's just a really colorful mural on the wall commemorating the story of jello dragons that attacked the island.

Astronomy Suite: You don't have to wait for nightfall to go stargazing in this suite! The bedroom walls and ceiling features a mural of the evening sky, complete with constellations. Also has futuristic-looking furniture, like something off of a starship. There's also a gift basket of never-ending astronaut ice cream.

Champagne Suite: Has a large jacuzzi tub that fills with champagne. Extra bottles of bubbly available in the mini bar.

Presidential Suite: By special request only. Includes two bedrooms with king-sized beds, balcony and ocean view, a living room large enough to fit a baby grand piano and large flat-screen TV, and a separate full kitchen and dining room.

Manager's Suite: It's a bit of an odd-shaped suite at the far end of the hallway, actually wrapping around so that one bedroom faces the town and the other faces Serenity Bay, with a living room and kitchen between them. Since Mary is living there, this is only available by special request.

To see which rooms are currently booked, check the spreadsheet. If you need a room for just one night, you're welcome to just pick any room that isn't already occupied. You can assume regular rooms will have double beds and suites have king-size beds, but this can be changed upon request.

That should cover everything. Questions, comments or suggestions?
