No, I think they're just hearkening back to a theatre that would've shown these type of films back then.

i thought it might be a possibility given rodriguez and tarantino could probably pull strings to get whatever they wanted in austin. oh well.

Eh, they're not really doing anything special. Its just that they're kind of a joke since the early nineties, having long felt like a scummy place, so this is a film I'm actually looking forward to seeing with this venue. I can't think of a more perfect match within driving distance (which ='s statewide for me, as I've been known to drive up to 4 hrs. each way for a particular screening of things)

Truth be told, I wasn't even talking about the venue - I just meant the film!

I'm not sure when I'll have the chance to watch it this week, and that makes me very sad...
