i know, it's better than a lot of other places. but that doesn't mean that there isn't room for a lot of improvement.

i think it is great that this event was organised so soon. i think it is a great way to make a point. but i am still really pissed that shit like this isn't some relic of the past. oh yeah, canadians are so accepting...

It IS really sad. Fuck, Montreal is one of the coolest places that I've been. And I've been known to kiss grrrls in less cool places. And I've never really been scared for my safety, but maybe I've just been lucky.

We tend to be kind of complacent in Canada, as though homophobia, racism, and classism aren't omnipresent here. As though our government is somehow not complicit in war and terrorism. As though we don't try to "straighten out" our kids and make them conform to societally approved gender roles.

We think we're so hot, but I tell ya - we're not.
