My diabetes dietician and nurse want my fasting blood sugar (first thing in the morning) level to be less than 90, and 1 hour post-meal readings to be less than 120. The past couple of weeks they've asked me to check occasionally right before meals as well, to get a better idea of how my blood sugar is behaving throughout the day. You are such a trooper. I don't know that I'd have the patience to put up with everything that you do/have put up with during your pregnancies.

I don't have much choice. At my last visit, the nurse specifically said, "you know this is not your fault? As your hormones change through the pregnancy, we're going to have increase your insulin. It has nothing to do with what you're doing."

I just went back and looked. In May, I was taking 5 units of the slow-acting insulin at bedtime and 3 units of the fast acting before lunch and dinner.

As of this morning, I'm at 21 units of slow at bedtime and 17/19/17 units before breakfast/lunch/dinner.
