Fic: "another scar will take this one's place," SPN/Roswell x-over, R.

Mar 13, 2007 10:17

I started writing this yesterday. It hit me out of left field and I have no idea what was going on in my head. In any case, it pretty much does a crazy dance all over Supernatural canon and various origin stories.

Oh, this just gets under your skin. I like the unreal, dreamlike feature of the way you've crafted the words, how the reader feels things from Isabel's perspective. Charming, a bit despairing, but a very neat read.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the feel of the piece and seeing things through Isabel's perspective.

I don't even watch Supernatural, but I would read any Roswell ficbit you chose to write and post. I love, love, love this Isabel. She's older and wiser, but not happier. Giving her John as a love interest is great, not only because the actors were on Grey's together, but for the things they seem to bring to one another.

Can I tell you how happy I was to see Isabel with Michael, even in an "asexual" way? Cause I think the running might get old for Maria. The scene on Antar, in the middle of another war, was so painfully lovely. The way Max and Isabel move to protect one another reflected back to Sam and Dean so deliberatly and yet subtly.

Her daughter goes to Ellen, right? And Ash is kind of like her (Jo's) Nasedo? And if Isabel's the queen, what happened to Liz (out of curiosity?

I liked the story, liked the grit and fatigue and not-quite-hopelessness of the characters who just don't give up. Thanks!

Thank you. I'm glad the grit, the fatigue and the glimmer of hope all came across. I always loved Isabel and wrote her POV quite a bit back in the day, so given the Grey's connection, it seemed perfect to bring her over and have her interact with John ( ... )

"But Iz'…" "No buts. I have to go. I'll be back in time for the trip."

Good crossover. I liked Isabel's characterization here. I like that you show her here as still not letting Max or Michael tell her what to do. (And this story reminded me of that whole thing where Isabel wanted to go to college and Max forbid her. So she and Sam actually do have that in common, interesting.)

She tells him to keep heading north, to finish the rendezvous with Max and the beacon from Antar.

I totally forgot their planet was called 'Antar'. Oy. That name still makes me cringe.

Thanks for reading.

A lot about Roswell still makes me cringe, but I definitely wanted to pull in the bits I liked, like Isabel, Max and Michael's relationship.

Oh...oh my. I didn't know my latent Roswell love could be reawakened! But that was some good fic. Loved the logic of Isabel connecting with John. Of her using her abilities to link up the sons.

I'm a fan of the Roswell fics that dabble in the darkness of their world in some AU version of events. This certainly did that. Great crossover. Many cheers.

Thanks! Roswell's fun to play around in now that the show is long over and the fandom is pretty quiet. I always loved Isabel and this was the perfect opportunity to pull her into a different universe but keep her essentially the same.
