First on the agenda - I'm tentatively looking into partitioning my laptop drive (all 40GB of it) and putting a Unix distro (probably Ubuntu) on my machine.  Two questions to anyone who knows anything about suchlike.  Firstly, how much space do I need on my Ubuntu partition?  Would five to ten gigs suffice
