That said I can't say that i have the extreme urge to write fic where she makes it out so I can write Cha Song Joo/Lee Su Hyun & Woo Wan/Yeo Kyeung double date fic to my heart's content.

I HAVE WANTED THIS FIC SINCE I WATCHED CAPITAL SCANDAL LAST YEAR AND I STILL WANT IT MORE THAN ANYTHING TO THIS VERY DAY!

JSYK.

The only thing I guess I am wary of is like series that end tragically. I don't really want to do that much angst or tragedy or death or anything.

I may look into jdramas and cdramas in so much that they just tick with me, although I think I am really just going by descriptions and seeing if they sound like something I would like or not.

Damo, Emperor of the Sea, 8 Days and Scandal in the Capital are out then. Hwang Jin Yi and Chuno are both pretty angsty and do have character deaths, but the endings are overall positive. All the modern dramas I listed have happy endings (Lovers in particular also gave good endings to various secondary female characters who would normally get a comeuppance and then tossed to the curb). While I often like tragedy and doom in historical stories, I don't as much in contemporary stories.

Dae Jang Geum I suspect you'd really like, though it has a slow start (the first handful of episodes are about the heroine's parents, and then about the heroine as a child) but it's incerdibly woman-centric and, aside from the first couple episodes about the parents, passes the Bechdel test umpteen times an episode without even trying, and literally tells a historical epic through the lives and conspiracies of court ladies. (It also has what is possibly the best kdrama boyfriend ever.)

I love Capital Scandal with the fire of a thousand suns, but I do have to say I would have been a lot happier with the ending stuff about Na Yeo Kyeung if Cha Song Joo had survived. I'm cool with the show reminding us that it's not necessary to be a fighter to be important - I think that's a good message! - but when a show kills off its one major lady and benches the other one for the grand finale, I have to give it the side-eye. (I am also annoyed with Lee Su Hyun for killing Lee Kang Gu at the end. Dude! Na Yeo Kyeung made an important moral and personal choice there! DON'T GO STEPPING ON IT.)

THAT SAID EVERY OTHER MOMENT IN THE WHOLE SHOW IS PERFECTION. ESPECIALLY EVERYTHING CHA SONG JOO DOES. EVER.

I don't know if I would've been completely okay with it even if Cha Song Joo had lived, although that would have alleviated it even more (add on if it had been Cha Song Joo to talk with her about it as opposed to the way it went down. Like I said the stuff around it mellowed it so it wasn't like a dealbreaker but it definitely is a side eye thing and it isn't like I don't understand that the show was leading to a Lee Su Hyun & Woo Wan thing but I still wish she had been involved more.

IT REALLY IS! JUST AMAZING!
