I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. Ours was very quiet and very, very busy. The guys spent Sat. morning doing swim checks for camp so they won't have to do it when they get there and Paul had another shakedown hike, this time with his pack loaded with most of the things he'll be needing ( Read more... )

Where is the troop going for summer camp? I miss this part of Scouting. Well, I miss a lot of things about being so involved with Scouting - but I have neither the time nor energy to get involved here. Besides, I checked it all out when I moved here and it's just way too different for what I'd been used to for 12 years. Rural -vs- suburban. I'll take suburban on this. *nods*

When packing Michael up to come home from college I reminded him of his backpacking skills. I told him that next year, he needs to "backpack in"... only bring with him to college what he absolutely needs. ;)

The troop is going to Camp Tom Hale in Talhina, OK but Paul is going on a Philmont trek in only a few weeks. I really hope that he makes it thru and doesn't give up.

I was very concerned about Michael when he went to Philmont - but he was a real trooper and did just fine :) In fact, he "out hiked" many of those who were doing a lot of bragging beforehand. heh ( ... )

Yeah, my husband doesn't like new woodbadge at all and whenever he's asked if he's going to take it, he says that his Eagle is good enough for him. *L* Camp Tom Hale is a really good camp and the guys have been to it two or three times now. I don't mind the Scout rambling at all... always nice to talk with someone who's been there.
