Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. Ours was very quiet and very, very busy. The guys spent Sat. morning doing swim checks for camp so they won't have to do it when they get there and Paul had another shakedown hike, this time with his pack loaded with most of the things he'll be needing ( Read more... )

I was very concerned about Michael when he went to Philmont - but he was a real trooper and did just fine :) In fact, he "out hiked" many of those who were doing a lot of bragging beforehand. heh.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of Camp Tom Hale. I did my cub scout woodbadge at a camp in Oklahoma - back in the day when Woodbadge was something to be really proud of for getting your Woodbadge beads b/c of the difficulty involved.
I also went thru Boy Scout Woodbadge (before they changed it to the current program) and it was a piece of cake compared to Cub Scout Woodbadge. I found that hilarious considering how much the BIG Boy Scouts (adult leaders) looked down their noses at "Cub Scouts". I was always hearing, "well, we GREW UP and went on to Boy Scouts". *rolls eyes*
BS Woodbadge was just another version of Scoutmastership Fundamentals. I've taught at SF so it was actually boring for me to be at BS Woodbadge.
I've heard that the new version of Woodbadge is horrible.

At least I was able to be a Fox again ;) I'm double foxed. *L*

oops, sorry for the rambling...

Yeah, my husband doesn't like new woodbadge at all and whenever he's asked if he's going to take it, he says that his Eagle is good enough for him. *L* Camp Tom Hale is a really good camp and the guys have been to it two or three times now. I don't mind the Scout rambling at all... always nice to talk with someone who's been there.
