OMG, www.joyofbaking.com SO MUCH NOM!!! I was looking for a pumpkin pie recipe because I love pie and I love pumpkin and it's not a food that comes automatically at the end of November like it does in USA so I don't think I've ever tried it but I do love pumpkin scones BREATHE and I found this website with SO MUCH DELICIOUSNESS I want to try it all ( Read more... )

Pumpkin pie was OK but not overwhelming - I had an American-born flatmate who made the real thing. She could perhaps be persuaded to produce one, I guess.

What's the texture like? I can be a bit fussy about texture. I haven't eaten much cheesecake on that basis alone, even tho I like it fine if I pick the jelly bit off the top. I don't eat mushrooms cos of the texture too. And someone made a cake once that was very eggy and it was like eating a crumby omelette. And I like eggs, except when they're masquerading as cakes. So the point is- good texture or too squishy?

I recall it being firm enough that the filling held its shape when cut, but still fairly soft-ish. I'll give estoile a prod next time I see her online and ask about it.

Hmmm. I might have a go at making one anyway, just to see if I can. I like baking, it's part of the "creating things with your hands" ouvre that I'm best at. And Xmas is the best time to be trying these things =D I'll have to set aside an afternoon at Mum's, her kitchen is about triple the size of mine!
