Science makes me feel tingly in my lady parts. (Because I guess ALL of my parts are lady parts.)

I just saw the most horrifying Teen Wolf gif. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, TUMBLR? WHY DO YOU DO THESE THINGS TO ME? Anyway, this is not about how Tumblr is apparently trying to smoke me out via Teen Wolf gifs or something, this is about BATMAN. I know, you're all surprised ( Read more... )

was the teen wolf gif something with an eye? i haven't seen it, but several people on my dash have been freaking out about people not tagging that shit, heh.

i like bruce SOMETIMES. i seem to recall liking him in the cartoon, at least? and i generally like his public persona, although his angsty sitting at home with alfred persona makes me want to bitchslap him sometimes.

YES. Oh god. Just. Just don't go looking for it. I mean, the other gifset of whoeveritis being devastatingly gorgeous while washing off blood in the shower is fine. The one with things erupting from his eye is not. Bleh.

I think you make a good point. And I agree with Em, that I actually kind of like Bruce in the Nolan movies, but that's probably because he's not screwing up the lives of impressionable young children in them.

ALSO i am surprised there aren't votes for 1989 batman. until the dark knight, it was definitely my favorite. (i haven't seen it since i was a kid though. so maybe wee!lisa just had terrible taste.)

(YES, HAD, PAST TENSE.)

WHATEVER. I'VE SEEN YOU DISPARAGE SCIENCE JUST THIS MORNING, SO THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON YOUR TASTE.

And I have '89 on my computer, if you want to revisit it. :p It's actually not that bad. And I liked Michael Keaton more than I thought I would.

I answered honestly, Batman Forever is my favorite, but the BEST ONE, imo is The Dark Knight. I mean, I love the fuck out of all the cheese of Batman Forever, but it's ridiculous, puntastic, and it's not my version of Batman. (Also Val Kilmer is not My Batman.)

As for Bruce... I think he can be shitty, but it always depends which version of Bruce we're looking at. I like the Bruce we see in the Nolan films. He's complicated and feels like a real person and not like such a colossal dick who adopts orphans to turn them into mirror images of himself. (I also like Bruce through Dick's eyes because while Dick as an adult can see that Bruce is flawed, he'd do anything for him because he loves him and he gets what he's trying to do, despite how badly he sometimes does it.)

I'm pretty sure Val Kilmer isn't Val Kilmer's Batman either, but like we discussed, HOW DO YOU SAY NO TO BEING BATMAN? Shit. I'd be Batman if someone asked.

I agree about Bruce in the Nolan-verse. Probably because he's not screwing up the lives of impressionable young children. And Dick's love and reverence for Bruce is honestly one of the reasons I like Dick so much. As far as experiments in seat of your pants child rearing go, Dick Grayson turned out okay.

It's okay! Robins are pretty cool all around.

My only complaint at this poll is that I wish I could pick more than one favourite Bat-film.

Fair enough! Which other(s) would you have picked?

I love Dark Knight 'cause OMG SO SRS and it's a really well-done film and all...

But, DAMN there's a lot to be said for Adam West Batman.

I adore Adam West and the whole 60s set of recordings. I think I seal clapped with glee for five minutes straight when I heard that he and Burt Ward were coming to Dragon*Con this year. For better or worse, the 60s versions were the versions a lot of people saw first. No matter how dark or deep people try to go with the stories these days, those interpretations are still floating around somewhere in the collective conscious and mocking us all with trampolines and snipey comments about day drinkers. ♥

THAT IS AN UNDERSTANDABLE NEED. I GET IT. I DO. Ugh. As much as I want Dick and Kate to go out dancing and having adventures together, I really, really love Dick and Babs together. I want them to do them right in a movie one day. WHICH IS NOT WHAT YOU SAID, BUT WHATEVER. IT'S MY SCIENTIFIC BATPOLL AND I'LL RAMBLE IF I WANT TO.

Unfortunately, I believe Carrie has fallen victim to Hey, Wait, Frank Miller's An Asshole syndrome, which retroactively shades the good things he used to do. Apparently she's kind of awful in Strikes Back, which I am more glad every year I never read.

I went looking for scans and found this, which is awesome. She basically bullied her way into being Robin, and she pretty much represents the only softness Bruce gets to show in The Dark Knight, so. Also, you know. First girl Robin. Gotta respect that.
