Angel mostly (Dance of Joy!); some Buffy (no dance! all angst!)

Jun 06, 2007 21:44

For once, I'm at a point in my viewing experience where "Angel" is the fun, lighthearted series and "Buffy" is the heavy, depressing one. I fell behind schedule with "Angel", so they aren't lining up at the same chronological spot, but anyway, I just finished A. season 2, and the episode "Seeing Red" in B. season 6. Yeah. ( vague spoilers )

angel, buffy

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I fell in love with Lindsay when he played the guitar. AND FELT LIKE SUCH A GIRL. UGH.

I HEART THE END OF SEASON TWO SO VERY VERY MUCH. The Pylea stuff is just GOLD.

AND LORNE. OH LORNE <3333

I think the Pylea stuff if some of the best stuff they ever did.

And the only thing I love more in the BuffyAngelverse than Lindsay playing guitar is Giles playing guitar and singing.

I've loved Giles throughout, and yep, it certainly didn't hurt to hear how well he can sing. Though my favorite Giles episode might be "Band Candy," simply because it was so funny to see him act like a rebellious teen. :D

Hee hee. I know...I felt fickle at squeeing over Lindsay for his voice, but hey, that's what TV is for.

Yeah.... "Seeing Red" is the episode I referred to before in my comment about the wrongness of Spuffy, the one you'd know when you saw it. That little episode right there makes my point for me, IMO.

As for Angel...I'd forgotten that the whole Pylea thing was at the end of S2. All 3 of those episodes are among the best of the whole season. I especially love Angel's reaction to not bursting into flame in the sunlight. "Can everyone just notice how much fire I'm *not* on?" :) Plus, the even better part of going to Pylea is that they bring Fred back. Ahh, Fred, the Willow of Angel.

Gladly, I have Angel S2 on it's way to me from Amazon as we speak...I'm going to have to put those episodes in when it comes. :)

I remembered that comment and thought, "Ah. Perhaps this is the episode, then." Still, having thought it over a bit more, I figure it's understandable. Spike's chip really is only a leash, not a soul; he's still strongly influenced by the demon in him. Considering that, he's much better behaved than soulless Angelus. It's still not an ideal relationship, no...but at least it's memorable!

Yes--Angel in the sun and the mirrors was great. I like happy-grinning-Angel. :D

"The Willow of Angel"--heheh. She kind of reminded me more of a mix of River and Kaylee from Firefly, but then I haven't seen a lot of her yet...

To this day, when someone on-list has done something noteworthy, I usually respond with "Numfar! Do the Dance of Accomplishment!" or Triumph, or Celebration or whatever.

I also love Lorne calling Angel "Hans Christian Tarantino."

Hans Christian Tarantino--hahahah! Yes. Too many great lines to collect them all, but Lorne was the source of so many. (Even when decapitated.)

*bounces over-excitedly*

I'll be seeing Christian Kane (Lindsay) performing a live accoustic set tonight. This evening cannot arrive soon enough, and if he performs his song from Angel I might just offer to have his little southern babies.

Also, "Evil!" is right up there with Jack's "Pirate!" as a single word excuse for any nefarious activities.

Hey cool! Throw your knickers at him for me! (Hee.)

"Evil!" is right up there with Jack's "Pirate!" as a single word excuse for any nefarious activities.

So true. I may have to adopt it.

I forgot to take knickers to throw, and afterwards wished I'd had some!

I can confirm that in the flesh he is quite lovely (very easy on the eye indeed) and far more southern than Lindsey - I guess they made him tone it down a bit for the part, because a high-flying lawyer with that much of a drawl would have seemed wrong. A contrast to Josh Holloway, who always tried to tone down his southern, only to be told to lay it on thick when he was cast as Sawyer.

Incidentally, did you notice Holloway in the first episode, City of...?

Glad you had a good time. I found myself liking Lindsay more when he showed some southern roots, even though I'm a Northwesterner. :)

Oh yes, I did see Holloway as token vampire! I'd forgotten. And then just recently I spotted Daniel Dae Kim as a W&H lawyer. Hee. Fandom crossover madness.

I love Pylea!! Well, not Pylea because the place is pretty twisted. But I loved the episodes. Angel being able to walk in sunlight was great. Poor headless Lorne! Lorne came to be one of my favorite Buffyverse characters. Oh, and Lindsay? I thought he was going to be a very one-note character, but he turns out to be much more.

As for Buffy, yes, much darkness there. I was extremely disappointed in Spike. But there is much to come in that area. But on a more lighthearted note, Andrew!! :::snickers::: He's hilarious!

Headless Lorne was awesome. They milked the dark comedy there for all it was worth. (Like getting whacked against the Groosalugg's butt, and saying, "Feels like someone works out.")

(Also, I love that the Groosalugg was a historical-romance-novel studly guy.)

Andrew provided some of the only laughs in that Buffy episode, but they were great moments--such as his huge girly fruity drink, with the umbrella and straw, in the bar. Poor closeted not-quite-evil Andrew. :)
