Angel mostly (Dance of Joy!); some Buffy (no dance! all angst!)

Jun 06, 2007 21:44

For once, I'm at a point in my viewing experience where "Angel" is the fun, lighthearted series and "Buffy" is the heavy, depressing one. I fell behind schedule with "Angel", so they aren't lining up at the same chronological spot, but anyway, I just finished A. season 2, and the episode "Seeing Red" in B. season 6. Yeah. ( vague spoilers )

angel, buffy

Yay! I inspired something to do something! I *heart* y'all. :) Now, I must make new converts to be really accomplished...

I had already heard Andrew would be continuing on into later episodes. Would have suspected anyway, from the depth he was starting to show--that, and Joss just doesn't waste characters very often. Good to hear S7 is supremely watchable!

Oh yes, Angel has sung Manilow a couple times, and "Everybody Wang Chung tonight," and it's all painful. Hee hee. I especially liked Gunn, Cordy, and Wesley's drunken rendition of "We Are the Champions."

I LOVE Lindsey's "Sorry, evil hand" scene sooooo much. It makes my top ten Angel moments list, definitely. I won't reveal it until you finish, though. Spoilers.

I didn't know Joss was Numfar until recently and I had seen that episode several times. That whole scene is comedy gold, starting with "Hello, Mom" & "Your father was right, we did eat the wrong son."

I just have to say though - not planets. Dimensions. ooo, I am a nitpicky Geek.

Ah, yes, favorites lists have spoiled me on stuff already. I don't know why I even look at them. :D

Yes, true, dimension really. But the two suns give it a "planet" feel, and in the S2 overview the writers actually say "planet" a time or two. So at least it's not just me. :)

Yeah, Lorne doesn't get a name until way after we meet him. I think before that he's in the credits as "The Host" and if I recall correctly that's how Team Angel refers to him, as well. (*hearts* Lorne)

"The Dance of Joy" was a staple reference at my house for a while. Every time something good happened, someone would command someone else to do the Dance of Joy. Hee.

I started off hating both Lindsay and Lyla but by the middle of Season 2 I loved them both. Lindsay has some good chemistry with the team and he has the whole bad guy/good guy thing going on (and yes, the Evil Hand is comedy gold...another staple reference for my sister and myself). Lyla I just like because she's so unrepentantly, smirkingly ebil.

Okay, now I want to re-watch Season 2. Oi.

Anyone else remember the Meposian Dance of Joy from "Perfect Strangers"? Well, no, probably just my sister and me. But this one can replace it, then, since everyone else knows it. :D

Lilah reminds me of my thesis advisers (both of them, undergrad and grad school), but they weren't evil of course, so it's kind of a weird cognitive dissonance experience for me to watch her. But I admire her evilness, and her perfect hair.

A quote from Kevon when I was showing him the Dance of Joy from Angel: "That's not the *real* Dance of Joy. No sir!" [he begins acting out the Perfect Strangers version]. God, I love him...

Whatever happened to Balki (Bronson Pinchot)?

Hee! OK then, it isn't just us. In fact, I Googled the phrase "Dance of Joy," and the first several hits referenced Perfect Strangers. Including, of course, a YouTube clip of Balki and Larry doing the dance.

Seems like I've seen Pinchot in stuff here and there, but I can't think what now. But I do have a vest that, around here, we call the "Cousin Balki vest" because it looks rather like one he would wear. :)

I was wondering if anyone ever mentioned The guy who played Lindsay is actually in his own little band, lol, called Kane. After I saw him play guitar, I just had to look him up (of course!) and I really liked the music. Several sites called it "Country rock" but I don't think that fits, more like a soft rock, if anything. If you liked that, look him up online for some musics... or download it, I'm sure you can find some things somewhere!

He and James Marsters ought to get together and play. :)

Kane kind of reminds me of Bryan Adams and other country-ish-but-really-rock singer/songwriters. Verreh hot.

Oh... how I enjoyed the final episodes of Angel:S2. I love it when Angel is unaffected by the sunlight and he's so obviously giddy ... he says something like "I'll start gathering some branches to cover up the car. Oh hey, look. There's some over in that patch of sun! I'll get 'em!" [big smile and he rushes off]

Yes--Angel was especially cute in this episode. All the preening in the mirrors, too. ("My hair only looks like this because of going through the portal, right?") Makes it all the sadder when his inner demon turns out to be so nasty for him.
