i wish they had more quidditch action.. and that they had the scene where they talk to barty crouch jr. after he transforms back into themselves. but overall, it was a good job.

I was rather hoping they'd allow Rita Skeeter to be the obnoxious minor villain she used to be, and Animagus. Might have given me a bit of respect for stick-in-de-mud movie Hermione, which was lost when she decided to have a single facial expression for all four films.

*nod* It was a bit odd to have Skeeter be only mildly annoying, when in the book she was such a huge freaking nuisance.

Hehe...being Hermione just involves so much angst...

I really enjoyed it too! I loved how they had a lot of the Weasly twins in it, they were hysterical. I thought the movie was well done with all the scary elements, but they managed to keep a lot of the humor in it as well. Prisoner of Azkaban did that as well. And they nailed the ending. Although I kind of thought Voldemort was a little hot...I think it was because it was Ralph Fiennes and I think he's hot no matter what. :D

I'm also not TOO disappointed that they left out all the minor subplots. The movie was already long, if it was any longer I'd still be there.

BTW, the scene with Harry in the bathtub, did anyone else think that was bordering on child pornography? I felt like I should've had my eyes closed or something. I really hope Shirly Henderson wasnt leaning on him while filming, but just put there with computers. That, along with 2 kids outside of the theater asking me to buy them tickets to a rated R movie, was the first time I truly felt old.

The bathtub thing was a bit disturbing, yes. Probably it was because we all know Ms. Henderson is, what, at least 30?, even though she's supposed to be a schoolgirl. Also, Harry just looked so uncomfortable--again, probably because she's a ghost, but it doesn't help to know she's "really" a grown woman. But presumably he was wearing swim trunks for that scene anyway in reality, so that's a minor comfort. ;)

Somehow I just never envisioned Harry as so...buff!

I was reading through this and just had to point out how everything you recounted from the movie definitely crossed the minds of myself and the friends I saw it with. Awesome way of summarizing the feeling left after the movie was over and thanks for an entertaining viewpoint.

So when are you going to write a parody?? We're waiting patiently. :)

I definitely considered it, but... the film is about 75% comedy, it seems to me; and writing parody of comedy just isn't very funny. As the Reduced Shakespeare Company put it, when explaining why they were focusing on the histories and tragedies for their condensed parodies, "We found that the tragedies were actually a lot funnier than the comedies."

but I already started, in Mollyringwraith-inspired style!
Voldemort: Avada Kadevra!
Harry: Noooooo!
Cedric:
People Who Haven't Read the Book: OMGWTF Somebody Do Something!

Okay, so I started at the end...

Well, you can continue; it's fine with me. :) But, see? You instinctively chose the tragic part for parody, not the comedy part. My theory stands!
