AWESOMENESS!

So, I started playing Chrono Trigger on DS for the first time today, and it took me a few minutes to realize.... that the game was in ENGLISH.  I was a little disoriented by that.... because I bought the game in JAPAN.  And I remembered the box being in Japanese.  So I couldn't figure out why they would have put an English game in the ( Read more... )

wtf awesome. i was just looking at ds games today and was kinda turned off to buying role playing ones because i figured after i while i'd get too meh about the effort it would take to play the game in japanese and would quit playing all together. buuuuuut if CT is in both languages, i may have to get it. :]

thanks for the info.

I got Chrono Trigger at Toys R Us on sale for about 2000 yen last weekend, so it's great because it's cheaper than most games out there (probably because it was originally for SNES). The only downside to using both the languages is that you have to have separate quests in Japanese and English... so effectively you'd have to do everything twice... but it's still pretty awesome!

AHHHH! Forget what I said! There is actually a place in the game where you can change the language at any time!!

You just have to go into a settings menu and it allows you to switch between English and Japanese!

Now I am super excited.

Sadness, the Region 1 version only has English. But in a way, that's good. I have a Japanese DSi, and there is no way to switch the menu to English.

I'm curious to know what translation they used for your cartridge. There was the old Ted Woolsey translation for the SNES which was GOOD, but when they released it over here, they retranslated it and made it great!

But I will agree with you about it being the best game ever.

Really? That's sad D: I found it in an obscure settings menu and didn't see it right away but I was pretty excited.

I got a DS Lite because I didn't want a DSi. I didn't see the point of the whole camera thing.

But wait, did you read that you can change the language IN THE GAME? You can make the language of the game English or Japanese at any time... it has nothing to do with the settings on the DS. I mean, the DS can affect it but you can change the language in the game also. That's what I meant in my edit.

Yeah, I caught that edit. The Region 1 version doesn't have anything like that. :(

I got the DSi because I thought there'd be a lot of emulation capabilities with the SD slot. Unfortunately, nobody has figured out how to do it yet. I really wish I'd have just gotten a DS Lite, but I'm not willing to go back and buy another system.

Sadness. I think I was more into the DS Lite because I didn't want the camera and because I like old school if given a choice. And it was also slightly cheaper. That's really weird that only the Japanese game gives you a bilingual option!

I have a DS Lite. I think all DS games should work on it... that is a shame about the DSi being region locked! I didn't realize that but I'm glad I didn't buy it.

And don't apologize about commenting too much! I like comments ^__^
