Here's a fairly concise illustration of parenthood (!): listening to your four-month-old (!!) happily and loudly talking to himself in his sweet, baby voice, cooing around his own fingers, which he's recently learned how to suck on... at five o'clock in the goddamn morning.

I feel this post! We also have a baby who fights napping, meaning it's impossible to get things done. And my ability to cope fluctuates hugely depending on how sleep deprived I am, ranging from cheerful confidence to near-despair and back again. Good luck with your return to work!

Hang in there sweetheart, the days are long but the years are short ♥ I can't imagine going back to work so soon but yeah, it was SUCH a relief. So great to feel productive & useful for society and to get a break a couple of times a day, and no constant noise, you know? It'll be hard though but you can do it!

I've been re-experiencing some of this with Aimee's babies, and I've been amazed at how most of the stress and frustration just slipped out of my memory banks. As a mother, I hate seeing my own child struggling with the unpredictable days and nights and the never-ending tiredness -- but she's just so good at all this, and she endures it gladly, and she and Kent have chosen to go through it six times now, with glorious results each time.

I'm so very happy that you get to do it all, too :D
