You would have liked my former Liberal MP, Michelle Simson. She accomplished a lot of NDP-esque things in her time and her platform was largely out of Layton's book. She was also the first MP to post her entire expenses online. The NDP candidate did win in my riding, which is better than the runner-up (ideology aside, our CPC candidate was actually awful), but the learning curve begins anew.
Obama is actually frighteningly right-wing at times, from my perspective. I noticed moments of it when he was talking about assassinating Osama, like "wow, this guy sounds like a menace".
The fact that they killed him I can deal with (though I think assassination is still considered illegal internationally, is it not?) but how he talked about it. He wasn't "well this was really the best solution we had. We were in a tough situation and did what we felt we had to". He was more "the second I got into office I was like 'FUCK YEAH I WANT THAT GUY DEAD'" in his speech.
Can you explain IRV/AV/STV? Is that similar or different than what they proposed for Ontario in the last election? Because that system looked pretty good.
