Today I started a pair of thrummed slippers. The thrums are a multi-colored batting I bought quite some time ago, before knitting, when I was giving needle felting a go. It's almost a guaranteed excuse to avoid parties. We're invited to a party tonight that David's boss is holding. Supposed to be a LOT of people there. A number of the ones I know all smoke. I'm nearly moved into the Art Chalet and have unpacked my supplies. I was right about how much room I have. Also, Kevin laid carpet in the loft, so it's ready for me. We need to make a ladder for it, one that will be out of the way when not being used. Currently we have a big ladder in there and it's taking up valuable space. I love just ( Read more... )

My Art Chalet is nearly complete. There is some carpeting to be laid in the loft, unpacking to do (and the gathering of various supplies together), siding to replace on the outside wall where David put the new door. Two mice in two days. One left on the living room floor for me to almost step on (sorta did with the instep of my foot - enough to make me think "what's that?" and get squicked when I reached down to touch it) and the next day one that continued to be much fun as a toy after its demise. It's been snowing pretty regularly for the past three days or so. I think that's all. Feels like forever already. Originally we were to expect a foot, but only got about 6 inches. That compressed a bit (light fluffy dry snow) and has been added to. I think if I measured, it would still only be 6 inches or so. The trees are all covered, though ( Read more... )

Lots of snow today. Around 5-6 inches, I'd guess at this point. It is still snowing and supposed to continue to do so into the late evening. Today was balmy at 56 degrees. Tonight the cold front (Bitter Cold!!) is supposed to hit and we may wake up to snow. So far, a decidedly strange winter. And of course, after I leave the Pacific Northwest, they have record snowfalls like I've never seen (still, even here in Michigan).
